The demise of the NY State Republican Party is essentially complete.
Now what?
Eliminate the local GOP organizations and build organizations that are essentially candidate centered, meaning they exist only to elect a Republican to office.
Start where? Not at the grassroots, but at the top - statewide organizations.
To achieve this without a grassroots organization to do the nitty gritty process of collecting signatures you will need lawyers ready to access the courts to challenge and throwout NY's antiquated ballot access laws. Obviously, the GOP gave no thought to ballot/election law reform while they were in power. Now, the Dems in charge they will work the system to thr benefit.
So, forget about the long and arduous task of reorganizing the GOP from the bottom up. Better and far easier to shoot for the top with a media based, candidate-centered organization.
Anyone in the Manhattan Institute thinking along these lines?

Wow...... Spoken like a true Democrat. We can just go to court and say that the laws are unconstituional because ..... ummmmm ohhhhhh aaaaaaahhhhh ..... I don't like them and because they are stinky?
Yeah, I am sure that a Democratically appointed Court of Appeals will rule in our favor. Talk about judicial activism.
No, organization means you have to do it the hard way, by educating people on the petition process, and finding volunteer carriers. You take back the voters one person at a time. You organize through the internet. You enlist young people into the leadership to facilitate the use of new technologies, including social networking websites. The Democrats are winning this battle, particularly with the surge in young voters to the Democratic line with Obama. Stick in the mud old-timers have to get thr heads out of thr butts.
the only way you rid NYS of its arcane practices is to convince the Democrats who control NYS that it is in thr best interest. Good luck with that if they see an overwhelming advantage.
By analogy, look at how Obama took advantage of the petition process when he challeged Alice Palmer. Organization IS alwasy botton up and never top down. That is why they call it organizing.

They dont do what they need to do to get the votes anymore.
They dont do what they need to do to get the votes anymore.
What they need to do is get rid of the current bunch. Thr time has come and gone. Left unchecked they will bring down the entire Republic party on Long Island.

We are loosing our stronghold out as well...
I think, first and foremost, you have to realize that without voter support your party will eventually cease to exist. Local politics is what it is, no more and no less, but who would associate with a party that has come to be viewed on the national level as anti-American?
Secondly, you must recognize your party’s one great weakness - that you are the “Party of Big Business.” As such you have sold out Americans on virtually each and every score: such things as outsourcing, "free trade" agreements that continue allow inexpensive imports to undermine American industry creating a greater need to outsource and further devaluing America labor in the process; you have favored Big Business over the basic rights of Americans and you have discarded for them the basic right of all to environmental protectionism. You have created a huge national debt, an entirely consumer driven economy that floats precariously on borrowed money. You have created "global economics" - worldwide economic interdependency - and discarded our more traditional national policy of "economic protectionism" which served to ensure our very independence and security. We should not borrow wealth; we should create wealth. And you cannot wave the flag of AMERICA with one hand and shout "Pro Life" while you continue to undermine our economic logic with the other. All politics flows from economics.
Recognize your enemy: The Democrat party is not democratic in any way shape or form and it has become the party of the minority. And you have lost the American working class to this party of liberal wackjobs and minorities.
Demographically we have become more polarized. Blacks in particular have been taking refuge in our cities since the time of the Civil War. The drug culture has taken hold there and crime is rampant, supported by an overly tolerant criminal justice system and the welfare state. THIS is now thr party's agenda in its entirety. The question is, how do we counter this polarization?
You need to go underground; you need to reorganize, rename, and reemerge as a party of the PEOPLE. And in the process we have to reeducate America – young people in particular - about American ideals and the true source of those ideals. You have to bring the white working class back into the fold, grab them wherever you may find them, and grab the minorities in the process. If you have any doubt about American ideals yourselves, or the particular areas in need of focus, then call on us... we are right here.
In the meantime, I'm moving to the country...
