once you're in an office like this, it's yours to lose and TB is no dummy.

average voters have no clue what representatives do. his team has the smarts to define TB to the electorate in a way that will allow him to keep his seat infinitum.

if he is going to be beaten, it has to be after the first term or never -- and the GOPer will have to be as clean and loved as Mother Teresa.

Is there such a thing as a clean loved republican? I don't think so. In Suffolk you have a Mafia infiltrated crime family of a party who have given the people of this great County nothing but corruption,dirty land deals. John Powell, and all the other GOP chairmen who landed in prison, it's crazy. I call on the people to repute this evil party and vote Democrat from now on, and the world will be a better place.

Well, I'm thinking these popular End state reps who get 70% of the vote every time and are far away from Powell, etc.

Still longshots:

Fred Thiele would win the End, negating that Bishop strength. He's rather broke, though, and a closet Dem anyway. Ken Lavalle's too old. Acampora perhaps, but there may be some skeletons there with all the money she has.

That John Jay guy seems worse than Grucci. He'd get smeared. I rarely saw a pro-Grucci post on this site and I never see a pro-John Jay post. This site isn't science, but you can see who has friends by reading it. I don't hear ooohs and ahhhhs about John Jay on the street ther.

If I were running the county GOP, I'd look for some idealistic average Joe off the street who's good at articulating a slightly right-leaning vision. Someone small potatoes who can't be hurt by a million bucks of negative ads against him -- or her. Someone who can "heal the party."
