What's up with that?

We give up the moral high ground on the patronage issue with one act?!? :">

How are we going to defend this to the voters come November?!? :">

A special thank you :"> to those who have made the rank-and-file's job that much more difficult.

Dems give up the patronage angle. Studpid, all for one slot at OTB.

Is Mr. Williams going to be working from home while he is serving his 6-month house arrest sentence?

hard worker

Nice that Newsday did not even state that he was a Dem, if it were a Rep, it would be first page.

This was a bad choice. To hire the guy was bad enough, but to put him in charge of a department is even worse.

Weren't there any other deserving individulas for that job?

Pollster, what do you think?

It will be interesting to see how the Williams appointment will be spinned by the Democrats and Newsday. It is my understanding that Williams pleaded guilty to federal felony fraud charges based upon his alleged misrepresentation of income information on individuals' mortgage applications. Generous future income estimates are utilized by some mortgage brokers to help applicants secure loans. Williams is viewed by someone who helped lower income and minority applicants achieve the dream of homeownership, despite significant financial and institutional barriers, including discrimination.

Indeed, Mr. Williams recved a very minimal sentence, six months house arrest, and is permitted to work during his sentence. Since the Federal Sentencing Guidelines are very rigorous, I presume that the Court and the U.S. Parole Department took into consideration the totality of his circumstances, including victim impact, which was arguably minimal. Then there is the "Robin Hood" aspect of Mr. Williams's offense, he made misrepresentations to wealthy lending institutions to procure mortgages for the working poor and low middle class minority homebuyer. In what could only be considered a prime example of defining deviancy downward, Mr. Williams's crimes are minimal when compared to the former Nassau Democratic Chairperson and the Former Suffolk County GOP leader.

Please recognize that I do not buy a word of this. I am appalled at Democratic arrogance and self righteousness. And politically, I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone outside of Mr. Williams' home district, other than the hopelessly liberal, who would buy this particular cannard.

Democratic generousity to the felonious Mr. Williams and his family must be contrasted to the 1,400 people Mr. Suozzi has threatened to downsize. I personally know of one individual who was terminated by the Dems who was the father of two children, and whose wife was pregnant with a third child, when he was summarily terminated. It took nearly six months for this man to find a job.

Suozzi, Is all about Suozzi, he could care less who he has to step over to get what he wants (elected to hire office). If he really wanted to do the right thing he could have kept the competent republicans and gotten rid of the others. Instead he opted to import people from the city, and republican rejects who worked on his campaign. Why ruin a good competent workers financial life, simple for politicle empire building. Suozzi recved numerous calls from various individuals from both parties in addition to many community and liturgical leaders asking him to assist this person he let go. He could of looked like a saint but instead he lost a lot of respect on that one.

with regard to Williams
Suozzi just figured Newsday would never rat out Williams and would get away with it. However he got his hand caught in the cookie jar for once.

The only thing Bellmore Insider got right is that Denenberg wrote a letter to Aaronson (and to others) expressing his outrage at the hiring and calling for William's removal. Once Again, Denenberg did the right thing - not the politically expedient thing.

Hey Jeff, notice how those disgruntled GOPers always gravitate to anything Denenberg? They must admire him a great deal to compel repeated insightful commentary.

They ratify the newfound political situation by thr mere presence.

Wonder how they feel about the McDonald/Blake submissions and the tip of the iceberg to come! And how bout that reassessment, those waterfront homes, properly assessed will save my Republican wallet a good couple hundred bucks - I like that! But only as much as seng those Chosen Few GOP'ers dunned for back taxes - (julie, joe, angie and friends).

Why would a North Hempstead Republican have any interest in Jeff Gold's position with respect to Pat William's hiring by OTB? Last time I checked, Gold was on the Board of Assessors, not the OTB Board. Presumably, his position is the same as Denenberg's.

Why don't we just turn 1 West Street back into what it was intended to be? A jail. You already have enough criminals working there: Asti, Green, Courbois, Benrubi, Williams, Sahn, etc, etc, ad nausea cause I feel like puking.

So much for Suozzi's clean up of government. Let's face it. He is just as tied down to handing out favors to his buddies as the old regime was. No difference, just a new cast of characters.
