Since there isn't anyone else who has addressed this situation I guess I will. How does everyone feel about Sen. Lotts comments about Strom Thurmond? Do you think they were racist at heart or just a pep rally for Strom where he got in over his head abit?

I personnaly think Lott has been a good Senator over the years, and its a shame that this is going to be his legacy. However when you assume the role of a public servant you have to take full responsibilty of your comments.

Lott, in my opinion has made a remark that he will never be able to fully recover from, and I think he should step down as Senator. As a republican I hate to say that our party should be exempt from one of our biggest leaders, but its just the way it is.

What Lott and every other Republican has to realize is that the people do not owe him anything, but he owes everything to the people. As a mistake or on purpose however it may be he has trampled on our values as a nation, and has to make things right by calling it quits.

In closing Lott was one of my top 3 political figures before the comments he made, so it doesnt do me any joy to call him out. However values outwgh party association any day of the week so he has to go.

It's not looking good for Senator Lott. I heard he didn't do that well on Black Enertainment TV. If Lott does go, so should former KKK member Senator Byrd for that reason and his usage of the "N" word on national tv. Dems made all kinds of excuses for him when that happened. I'd like to see a more conservative and stronger leader, but I don't want to see him go because of a "witch hunt."

A disgraced Clinton Dem could replace Lott (in the Senate) - If interested, visit www.SunHerald.com "Black democract could fill Lott's seat if he quits the senate."
