Look, the dep's have a difficult job, I suppose, I never did it, but they should stick to doing what they are primarily around for....transport prisoner, serve evictions, sit on prisoners in the hospital. If you are a dep and want to play cops and robbers, take the PD test, It's a matter of playing nice with everyone else in LE. In this case though, I'll jump in partly because I am a Deputy and partly because the guy who initiated this thread couldn't be more uninformed or just plain full of sh!t! So not only will I take the time to respond, I will asnwer each of your ridiculous questions:

No Deputy "is willing" to do our job for less than any other Police Officer. We simply have what we have and make the most of it. (I dont see the entire NYPD quitting thier jobs just because most PO's in NY State make more money).

Why are Deputies driving around at 3 am? I guess they are working midnights. Interestingly enough, you have at l confirmed that they ARE driving around, unlike the four to six PD units I see at any of the local Firehouses when I am out during the midnight shift.

Why k-9? The canine teams currently in service keep drugs out of the jails, and in addition they do countless hours assisting end PD's, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. You see the Feds weren't aware that SCPD had an exclusive contract in capturing bad guys with drugs - so they readily call out the Sheriff's Canine so as not to have to deal with, "the over paid prima donna's" from SCPD. That's an exact quote fellas.

Why the motorcycles? Because we too have dearly departed MOS and former MOS and the bikes do a much better job getting around traffic in funeral processions. Don't believe me - ask your own highway guys.

The boat staffed competely on overtime - outright LIE. Staffed seasonally by full time, dedicated people.

Low profile cars? Yeah, why not. Deputies have been writing summons since way before you guys were even a concept in some tainted politicians mind. Why are Deputies driving around at 3 am? I guess they are working midnights. Interestingly enough, you have at l confirmed that they ARE driving around, unlike the four to six PD units I see at any of the local Firehouses when I am out during the midnight shift.

Why k-9? The canine teams currently in service keep drugs out of the jails, and in addition they do countless hours assisting end PD's, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. You see the Feds weren't aware that SCPD had an exclusive contract in capturing bad guys with drugs - so they readily call out the Sheriff's Canine so as not to have to deal with, "the over paid prima donna's" from SCPD. Why the motorcycles? Because we too have dearly departed MOS and former MOS and the bikes do a much better job getting around traffic in funeral processions. Don't believe me - ask your own highway guys.

Likewise construction began in 1958 for sunrise, it started in the and ended in the west, in 1998 at exit 49.
Its really not all that ancient as you would like to infer, it all happened within the modern police world. If you remember in 1960 when scpd was formed, the state parkway police left that area, but remained in the ern 5 towns.

Levy knows any time length that deps patrol means ammo for next arbitration, and inevitable parity between us.

Wrong. deps list last longer, and there is no lotto. Far fewer people take the test, I know guys who got on with a high 70. Scpd you have to be 92.5 or better, and its still no guarantee

I dont know what is harder to get hired by but if you dont get a 95 plus you dont have a chance at getting hired for deputy. The list lasts the same exact 4 years as scpd. Many less people take the deputy test but a lot less are hired as well. There are only 275 deputies. and Only 20-40 are usualy hired off each list.
