I am a life long Democrat. I got involved when Pitts/Haugen/Kaufold were running in 1987. These men ran to change the way things were done in Babylon. I believed them and believe they tried.

The Town Committee began to take on a life of it's own without a thought of our original mission.

It has turned out to be an immense failure. While I still believe we can run good government, we have to change many of our current leaders.

I call upon all Town Committee persons to get involved to make these changes or the voters will.

He mismanaged every job he has been in. It is time for the rank and file committee members to step up and say something. Otherwise by this time next year you will all be out of work. Stand up to Bellone and his servant. All committee members should ignore Bellone's order and elect a leader who is smart and capable.

If think that having a term will stop Bellone and company guess again. If he wants to change a committee member all he has to do is remind them if they have a town or county job that it would be better if they gave up thr party post so that it won't interfere with thr job and that's that.

Enough with the complaining and speculation. No one on this board is ever happy with the town committee. You bitched about Casale, now you're bitching about Strickoff when the guy hasn't even had a chance to express his ideas. The Babylon committee is obviously in need of major reconstruction which in my opinion should start from within. As far as I'm concerned the committee has not acted to its full potential for a long time now. Maybe these people actually do have a plan for the future, and a good one, at that. It is time for a fresh start.

Until there is a line on the ballot that says "None of the above" we are all stuck making a choice. Usually it is the lesser of the evils. I definitely lean a little right at times, but I have voted the other way when I decided I had to. I don't see the need to sacrifice my integrity in order to vote a party line. It's not my fault if my party of choice decides to run a candidate or slate of candidates that I deem incompetent. I reserve the right to make my vote count. Kind of keeps the parties in line with who they decide to run.

huh? there was NO tax increase for the town portion this year? My nghbors are happy about that, and so should you. Most people I know are happy with the town, roads are getting constructed, taxes are stable and the town is doing a decent job with the parks and beaches. Who do you talk with, I guess people who hate the town no matter what happens, wake up and smell the NO tax increases.

Oh....its coming alright. Town equipment is falling apart, the town workforce has been cut to the bone and barely functions anymore while stipends and patronage appointments flourish. Pending lawsuits threaten to bankrupt the town; a poor audit will result in higher bond costs. Our roads are falling apart and there is no money budgeted to fix them properly. When school age children start moving into all the "senior citizen" housing bng built, school taxes will skyrocket too. You can only rob peter to pay paul for just so long. Sooner or later the smoke and mirrors won't work anymore, and my guess is sooner than later. Photo ops, billboards with politicians names in front of town hall and social/recreation programs are nothing but smoke. There is nothing else left to cut in the town budget except the patronage, and we both know that is not going to happen. So, whats left? Big tax increases to restore the town budget. ther that or NO services at all. You'll see.

are you kidding , what parks and beaches are you going to? oyster bays. no town tax increase, true, but every other town service has gone up. we pay one of the highest for garbage removal. highway tax that goes to a general fund, not to fix roads , but to pay for there raises. and talking to people, they all say the same thing, this towns in bad shape. and for a tax increase, which is coming, due to the poor planning by bellone and company. the truth will come out in november, so STAY TUNED.
