Suffolk police said a longtime town employee, who punched his supervisor in a town building as tempers flared at a work-related meeting, has been charged with third-degree assault.
Louis Llovet, 43, of 7 Henry Pl. in Bay Shore, a tree trimmer for the town for nearly 21 years, was arraigned in First District Court in Central yesterday, a day after authorities said he struck John Hildebrand, a highway labor crew leader.
Llovet, held at the jail in Riverhead in lieu of $1,500 bail, appeared in court with a bandage wrapped around his right hand. His wife of 23 years, Charlene, was at the hearing.
Llovet's attorney, Terry Karl of Hauppauge, said the charge against his client is vague, and that he hadn't yet talked to him about Wednesday's altercation, which police said occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at an Main Street building housing the highway commissioner's office.
