I have a better idea. Why don't we replace every single office job with civilians. Cops should be on the street fighting crime, not sitting behind a desk. I don't care what rank you are. Hire people who have worked in the REAL WORLD and actually know how to run a business. Would you leave your business in the hands of some cop who only has a high school diploma?

I would not want the county to hire civilians to run the dept. Many reasons, but the most obvious is look at the state the entire country is in.

But I do think the county could cut 1/3 of the admin police jobs, if not more.
The city operates just fine without the top heavy system we do. The pct doesnt need a Inspector, Dep Insp, Capt, 5 road lts nad one admin lt. Each division doesnt need a chief, plus multiple dept chiefs,

The city has a station with how many cops working out of it? And who is the highest ranked officer in it? How many have a insp, dept insp, capt, lt, and sgt making up the admin staff for a total of 125 cops?? plus road supervisors, 4 sgt and 1 lt per 25 officers, minimum staffing 1 admin supervisor, desk sgt and 2 road.
To the best of my knowledge you have a capt per station in the city, unless things have changed dramatically. The nypd might seem top heavy, but compared to scpd its not.
