A North Carolina man was arrested during a routine traffic stop Thursday on the Long Island Expressway in Medford after police found he had an unlicensed handgun in his car, Nassau police said.
Christopher A. Pinket, 52, was traveling on the LIE shortly before noon Thursday when Suffolk police Sgt. Terrance Mawn saw him violate traffic laws and pulled him over, police said.
The sergeant asked the driver questions about where he was headed and what he was doing in Suffolk County. Pinket, of Hampstead, N.C., told the sergeant he had a handgun in the vehicle, police said, and a subsequent police search turned up the handgun and ammunition.
Sixth Squad detectives charged Pinket with criminal possession of a weapon and he was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct station house for arraignment on Friday at First District Court in Central .
Great Job SCPD!!!!

I have a wonderful idea; lets start today, we'll take every halfway decent thing that happens at work and post it on this site and congratulate the cop who did it and say GOOD JOB! Great Job! etc etc
Then we can look as gay as we are acting.
agreed ..

Now you know what it looks like from a cops perspective when the trolls post about every thing that makes newsday, gay.
police issues?????

I guess its not quite the equivalent of a troll with little else to do details the excitement of seng a cop with a stain on his shirt, or one who has locked his keys in his car,...... not only details it, but starts a thread, and posts fervently for a few months.
I gues its not really a police issue like those or other incredibly exciting stories that trolls actually had nothing better to do but post here about.

good point, why is it that trolls post about whatever tickles thr fancy, even when it has nothing to do with cops, but as soon as there is a post about a real police issue, they get themselves all worked up?
Its a rhetoric question, I, we everyone already knows the answer....

THE motorist is from N.C., and probably had a right to carry a pistol if that person met certain requirements. For instance: if the weapon was in the trunk or a locked glove compartment without the key bng in the lock. Also, there was no mention in the story the weapon was loaded.
From what I read in the article it was the driver who volunteered he had a weapon in the automobile. While the right to carry a pistol could be lawful in N.C. it is surely a crime to carry it in NYS. No argument there, but it does tend to explain why the motorist appeared to volunteer such information.
Not that it isn't good police work, but hardly the stuff worthy of a newspaer article. It just ain't hard to find a gun if the guy tells you he has one.
Don't puff yourselves up with that one.

The motorist was in New York and as such should have known the laws in regards to carry/concealed carry.... each state has its own laws and when you apply for your license you are given them.
The motorist was advised to be honest because the dog would find it anyway...
still good stuff...

more attempts by trolls to minimize issues...north carolina has a listing of recpirocity states, for concealed carry... which new york clearly isnt on. If he is that stupid shame on him. There is also the fact that in north carolina you can carry a unconcealed pistol without any license.
Doesnt matter its a gun collar, this isnt n.c. Another illegal gun off the street.

WOW! what a collar. was the weapon even loaded? the car was 'searched'. Oh, I guess they found a gun trap hidden in the car. You seem like the kind of guy who would lock up a citizen if the citizen came into the precinct and turned in a gun. Probably call that a 'gun collar' too.

does a weapon have to be loaded? Did anyone say a trap was located? Did I say I worked inside the pct? No. "I seem like"? What other outstanding characteristics did you pick up in that 60 word post? Cuz you arealdy got that wrong.
The story clearly says what it is, no cop is doing anything but saying nice job. Now the trolls come to pick it apart, minimize it for thr own personal issues. gun off the streets where my family could be,....good job.

The cop found a gun. Good for him. No one is trying to knock a a good job or the cop. But some of you guys like to think the cop should get the Nobel Peace Prize. It was just another collar in the glorious history of the SCPD.

What is the best part is that the dog in question isnt trained to detect handguns or gunpowder, so yes its a great job!!!!!

general patrol k-9s do not train for gunpowder detection, for the most part, the cop simply tricked the guy into fessing up. So yes, in a way it isnt the job of a k-9 to find a gun.

I stopped by my investment firm a few weeks ago, there were 5 middle aged balding slobs high fiving each other for one of them jump shooting a piece of paper into a waste basket. Amongst the statements they were making "sweet"..."we win" ...."I shook up the world".....
There is no harm in saying nice job to a cop who gets a gun off the street. No one is nominating him for cop of the year. No one is claiming he found a trap door, or it was loaded or used in commision of a crime, or the arrestee was planning the next Columbine. No one is saying it isnt his job.
The person who was so offended by the attaboy post to go on about it trying to negate the simple congrats needs to take a step back, forget his personal issues with the dept and let it go. I've no doubt if it was a baby saved by a cop, or a person who had just killed a entire busload of children bng arrested you would still be here doing your best to minimize it, for your own inadequacies.

Really? These guys have a education? I would hope so. Can you say the same? judging by your posts it doesnt seem likely.
They do not mooch off the taxpayer, they mooch off me, as they stated "cops are our best customers, they are the only ones who seem to be able to ride the economy out" and you are saying every investment made by every investment firm has worked out? Because I know many investments and investors that have flopped, and these guys are still here. They are adding value? You look at the market recently?
Whether or not they have a union is not my problem, whether they work under a labor law that forbids them to strike isnt my concern ther.
The virtue of my post was that I KNEW it would drive you bezerk and lit a fire under your inadequate ass.
Only you would get that underlying issue and not look at the face value issue of the idiots slam dunking a piece of paper. It never even happened

sucka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Whether or not it happened is irrelevant. Unfortunately for you and all cops, taking things for thr face value is the most in-depth analysis you can perform - it's part and parcel with the job. As for you stating these guys mooch off you - if you think that's the case and they aren't adding value, why use them? Open an ameritrade or etrade account and pick your own investments. Not every investment decision made by the professionals pans out, but the fact is if the investment professional adds value (in the eye of the person trusting him with thr money), the guy will keep his job. If he flops, he'll lose clients and henceforth his job. You moronic PIGS cannot see that invisible market hand because your job is socialistic and has nothing to do with any market. You have what you have because of corrupt politicians and an inadequate law.

What kind of nut dreams about other people's pain and suffering?
If you understood the concept of karma, you would understand, it doesnt get passed down to your offspring, it begins and ends with you. You are responsible for you won life. But I guess that is a difficult concept for uneducated basement dweller to grasp. Additionally, you wishing, dreaming, praying, for pain and suffering is part of your karma. Just from reading these incredibly unbalanced rants, you have better hope karma doesnt exist, because you are fucked in that dept.
Why dont you pretend to be a few hundred more individuals? Why dont you post a partial true, or marginally factual story that is based a real event? Why dont you keep pretending not to be jealous of l.i. cops for having a better life then you? Why dont you keep pretending to have any form of a actual life?
What kind of nutjob actually wants to meet up with a poster on here? To even take this as seriously as you do shows you have problems. If you asked for my address and I gave it to you, I wouldnt be a non-pussy, i'd be a moron of the 1st degree just like you.
You want to meet a cop and tell him what you were going to tell the poster here? Drive into Suffolk, pull up to the 1st cop you see, or the pct and tell him.
