It is too late now for the US to pull out of Iraq. We have single handedly created a mess and it?s only fair that we should clean it up. But along with the clean up effort America should hold its leaders accountable for mindlessly getting us into this mess. And I say ?mindlessly? because with my limited knowledge it was so clear this was an ill-gotten war. Bush bears the greatest responsibility for first planning the war and then manufacturing reasons to support it.
But we should hold congress accountable as well including some of the spine-less democrats for not having the courage to stop bush when they could. Make no mistake that is the single most important reason why Howard Dean leads the pack today!
But let me not play the ?Monday-morning-quarterback? game and look ahead a little.
Bush plans to transfer power to the Iraqis by June ?04. Lets state the obvious here?this agenda has very little to do with what is or may be happening in Iraq and everything to do with the November elections.
It is obvious that between June and November bush does not want to see any planes landing in American with coffins. Consequently, regardless of the situation in Iraq bush will take American GI?s off the street. We can expect to see increased carnage of Iraqis as the gorilla warfare continues.
I wonder..will those sheeples who believe it was worth American $$ and lives to save Iraqis care about the carnage then? Especially those who were suddenly horrified at the suffering of Iraqis at the hands of Saddam, will they be ok with Iraqis killing themselves?
If bush should win and American troops are again placed back in the shooting gallery who (but the families) will care about thr plight? After all, bush will have gotten the only thing he wants from ordinary Americans (thr votes) ..and does anyone believe he would ever go back to Bahgdad?
The sad part is no-one can clean up Iraq now. Our heavy handedness have angered even those in the region who before the war held no grudge against America. Consequently the gorillas are intent on not only killing Americans but erasing any foot-print we may leave behind. The only certainty is that Iraq will be counted as one the most dangerous place in the world for decades to come because of this war. Adding insult to injury Americans must listen to bush proclamation of success in the Iraq effort during the campaign period when nothing will be further from the reality!
