In regards to Laura and her doings in Midland, I find this very disturbing. Laura in her Chevy ran a stop sign and struck the sedan of her boyfriend Mike Douglas, breaking his neck and killing him on the spot. His car was hurled nearly 50 feet according to the Star, using Midland police reports of the event. ther she was mad at Mike or she didn't care to pay much attention to others on the road and just plowed into him accidentally somehow. The way it was covered up who knows, she could've been drunk, like the way George W. would booze it up and not care who he hit (George W. is a man who knows first hand about Driving Under the Influence seng that he was arrested for it himself). The whole matter is very fishy, especially the fact that the driver was her boyfriend. But despite this literally unbelievable coincidence, no grand jury was convened. Years later, during the presidential campaign, Laura allowed spokespeople to make statements about the collision that later were shown to be untrue when the police reports were unearthed. Laura is quite a prize.

I suspect it was a case of playing chicken that went horribly awry, but I cannot completely rule out the fact that it was something much darker.

You democrats will stoop to any level to denigrate the Bush family. Your childish and immature hatred of anything surrounding GWB would be laughable were it not so vicious and nasty.

Lets see....WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER you (Slackjaw and LoTek) are accusing Laura Bush of:

1. Intentional Homicide or Manslaughter
2. Drunken driving

And...you further allege a coverup by the police department and God knows who else. Again WITHOUT A SCINTILLA OF PROOF.
And...LoTek "suspects" it was a case of playing "chicken" or something "much darker" whatever that means. WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE OF THAT? What a ludicrous statement.

FACT: In many jurisdictions the police are not permitted to write a summons for a traffic infraction they did not witness; It simply would not hold up in court. The fact that she ran a stop sign would make her liable civilly, not criminally, unless someone could prove she did it intentionally, recklessly or there were other mitigting factors. This was obviously not the case.

FACT: Grand juries do not routinely investigate traffic accidents unless there are extenuating circumstances such as DWI or reckless operation of the motor vehicle, nther of which apparently happened in this case.

FACT: Laura Welch Bush was treated at a hospital, where blood tests would have been done as a matter of routine, and which would have indicated whether or not she had been drinking. If she had, the police would have known about it.

The truth is that she (a 17 yr. old child at the time) ran a stop sign and had a terrible accident, something that happens every day in this country. Just because someone dies in a traffic accident does not automatically mean someone should go to jail. That's why they're called accidents....DUUH!

And now it's time to PUT UP OR SHUT-UP. Present real evidence of your assinine charges or take your cheap political rumors and innuendo to a discussion board where others of your ilk thrive on conspiracy theories and cheap shots.

Oh, and by the way, if you want to look into real criminality, wrongdoing and coverup while researching old traffic fatalities, you need look no further than good ol' Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy. THAT has been documented.

Reality I agree, essentially, with your post, that's why I suspect it was a game of chicken, because I do think they would've tested Laura for alcohol, like how George W was tested and consequently got his DUI. I cannot rule out if there was something darker behind it, the fact is no one can, only Laura and her dead boyfriend know what truly happened. What we do know though, is that she ran the stop sign, intentionally or not, and killed her boyfriend. Again the reasons for this can never be fully known.
