Does anyone know whether he's a Suozzi or DiNapoli Democrat??
What is his most important issue?
Is he effective?
I'd like to know.
Thanks in advance.

It is hard to read whether Johnson falls into ther camp. Although he was a very strong backer of DiNapoli's in the County Executive race (both campaign wise and financial), Johnson's political philospophy is
very much in line with Suozzi and Jay Jacobs. However, in recent events, such as Nassau First trust and income tax issues, he bucks the Suozzi administration and speaks his mind. He has the reputation of bng the
independent mind and voice of the democratic caucus and is very popular with independents and republicans who live in the district, such as myself. He also has a reputation of spending more money than necessary in
elections.
As a constituent of his, I found that he has been extremely effective for the district. Although I did not vote for him the special election because I thought he was running more on his mother's name, my family
has become very impressed with how quickly he has become a hard working legislator who is dedicated to his district. For example, a number of my nghbors who have had problems with the reassessment process have
found Legislator Johnson to be extremely helpful in helping them work with the company doing the assessment job.
As to issues, the only ones I know about are the ones I read -- his opposition to a county wide income tax, requirement for health insurance contribution for non-union county workers and improvement of the environment.

A Dinapoli Guy all the way, good man and could easily be a republican without much pushing. Suozzi fears him and he is the the independent that Suozzi likes to have people think he is,thus the friction. Johnson is a raising star and does well with both sides.

Craig is Conservative and Independent - but he is a Dem. He is also, at this point, loyal to Suozzi and to Jacobs. That loyalty, however, is tempered by his representation of his community, If, however, you closed your eyes and listened to him to speak , you would think that he is a Republican, but that is true of 1/2 the Democrats on the Legislature.

I tell you people, he's a Ben Zwirn Democrat. Look at his stand on everything North Hempstead. He's going out of his way to give opinions on non-County matters. Look out in '03, a big race on the horizon.
You're out of your mind. Craig destroyed Ben Zwirn in the special election and wrote the guy's political epitaph. Isn't Zwirn now in Suffolk County licking his wounds? Johnson for Supervisor!! Zwirn never was a true Republican, never a moderate Democrat.

MAF,
you need to take your blinders off! Zwirn was a Republican turned Democrat when it became convenient. Johnson was a republican who turned Democrat under the same circumstances. Watch out for him, seriously!
