To the Editor:

At a Town of Oyster Bay board meeting on March 25, 2008 the latest proposal for The Continental Villas continuous waste water problems was unvled. As usual the current “solution” will cause a delay of at l a year. As proposed, the homes in the subdivision will be connected to Glen Cove Sewer District via a pipe that will come from Glen Cove to Locust Valley. The unknowns bng the actual cost of the project and who will foot the bill, where the pumping stations will be and if the county will even get permission from other municipalities like Lattingtown and Mill Neck to install them. Of course, the residents of the Continental Villas have been promised to be the first to connect to the pipe. However, that will depend on everyone else between Glen Cove and Bayville not yet aware of the project.

The last proposal unvled just last August, in the form of an MBR plant appeared to be considerably favorable to the contact chamber that has been polluting Mill Neck Creek for over 20 years. So far, this new plan is just that, a plan. One of many ideas and discussions with nothing concrete, nothing in writing.

Councilwoman Faughnan, who also sits on the board of Friends of the Bay seemed uninterested. She sat reading through correspondence while the speakers were at the podium. Another board member actually fell asleep in his chair. While thr behavior is rude and unprofessional it is hardly unexpected, this is the exact response the problem has been getting for 40 years.

Thought the public might like an update.

Sklavos Exposed

As Alex Sklavos, the do-nothing Oyster Bay Democratic party leader lives in Continental Villas I wonder who is behind this letter.

Hey Alex maybe Dave Mejias can help you. Or maybe you should go back to Garden City you hack.

It seems everyone who holds any position of responsibility has also turned a blind eye to the amusement park built literally feet from federally protected wetlands on the Bayville/Locust Valley border. Local civic and environmental groups, and those who profess to be environmentalists have looked the other way as garbage, and runoff flood into the already polluted Bay.

Talk to Vickie and Tommie and a lawyer friend of thrs about that one!!!

As the OB Town Leader where was Sklavos when this Amusment Park was bng built in his backyard. He has the ear of the county leagislature and Executive and did nothing to oppose the project.

To blame a town board member when a Suozzi sicophant who lived a few hundred yards from the park remained silent is hyopocacy. Remember Suozzi was the one who took credit for the improvements on the Bayville strip.

So if there is any blame to be had its with the Democrats who controlled the county at the time of the project and thr Oyster Bay hack leader Alex Sklavos.

Besides Alex and his crew are so inept that they are trying to place blame on a Board Member who was elected in 2006 long after the Bayville Strip project completion or the sewage problem in the "Villas" began.

I guess thats all you can do when you slate of candidates loses 2-1 every year to the Republicans while Dems in other Townships and winning.

This drainage issue has been going on for 40 years - what does a Bayville Village project have to do with this. We need our Councilpeople and our Legislator, and our County Executive, to help these residents. There was a Newsday article on this as well - some of these residents are pumping thr cesspools weekly.

I know that as I lived there for 40 years and you know that but Alex Sklavos just moved into the area a fewe years ago and appartently doesn't know that.

So he sends a politcal letter to the Locust Valley Leader under a phone name and blames a town board member who was not even alive when the sewage problem began. Then he blames a Bayville Amusement park not knowing that there was always an amusement park located there.

Plus, igonres that its Suozzi who has that area marked as part of his re-development effort. Alex should know that as the Suozzi's hand-picked Town Leader. Maybe he missed all the county signs when the roadway was expanded by the county executive to permit such expansion of the Bayville strip.

No this so-called politcal leader would rather accuse a Town Board member who has been involved in fixing the "Villa Situation" than research and report the facts to the public.

Alex is nothing but a two-bit political hack who has has created the most inept party organization in town history. He can write all the letters he wants under phony organization names, but the Dems will never elect a Dem to town office again until he is long gone.

The tiny amusement park that was originally in that location was a fraction of the size of the new park that occupies the space now. many people buried there heads in the sand as this project took almost 2 years to complete. the ironic part is that it is only feet from FEDERALLY PROTECTED wetlands. The water table only allows an excavation of 5-6 feet,so where is the sewage going?
Shame on everyone who allowed this catastrophe to be created.
And wait for part II, the entire strip will soon be developed and the likes of the amusement park will dominate the area.
Apathy is the greatest threat to a community!

The "Finley Fun House", Scary Park what ever you want to call it is an abomination and the direct result of contributions to the Dream Boat in Mineola. Finley's & Suozzi's go back a loooooooong way in the high hills of Glen Cove.

This foolish blight requires a waste treatment plant of its own.Put one next to a resident house and they will be the first to hook-up! Or perhaps they will be hooking up to down town Glen Cove! What ever the solution, can someone please get Ms. Yatauro and her hack Ian Siegal to let all us overburdedned taxpayers how much this sweet heart deal for "FRIEND'S OF TOM" is going to cost us.

We would like to know if we should lock the door drop the keys at the bank and leave the Nassau County now or if we have to the end of the school year.

As far as the housing develoment build on a flood plain, swim in your own waste.Just who was the builder of this development and how did they get permits???

Where were now Chf advisor to the Nassau Legislature (@$150,000) and former Leg consel Dave Gugerty and town Democrat leader Alex Sklovos when this project was occuring.

I mean they both live within a half mile of the Amusement Park. They just grabed thr ankles and let Suozzi screw thr community.

Then Sklavos writes a letter to the Locust Valley Leader blaming a town board member from Locust Valley who was elected in 2006 for all the problems in the area. No wonder he loses 2-1 to the Reps in town elections.

It's too late and counterproductive to point fingers now. The real issue is that EVERYONE knew it was coming, and NO ONE objected - including the residents, and those charged with protecting environmentally protected wetlands. More development is coming to that area, and if the residents want avoid becoming the new Coney Island, and encouraging an out of control honkey tonk atmosphere, the residents better become involved real soon. Thr quality of life will pay the ultimate price with the increase of auto congestion, proliferation of $6.00 per hour carnival jobs and crowds of kids hanging around what was once an environment that encouraged a family atmosphere.

He didn't??? Continental Villas is a very small area which has a civic association which is not called " Concerned Citizens of the Continental Villas."
Its a made up group to hide the real author.

Who else in a nghborhood with about 40 homes reads and post on this board, lives in the nghborhood, has access to post on the Town of Oyster Bay website, and has the motivation to blame a single Republican town board member.

The post appeared on the Town of Oyster Bay website which is controlled by Alex the same day it was published by the Leader and the same day it appeared on this board. The post on this site is highlighted in the same manner as it has been posted on the TOB Dem site by whoever controls it. You do the math.

He is a town leader who has destroyed the Oyster Bay Democratic party which has angered many including myself.

The question should be: What is Alex's obsession with Elizabeth Faughnan???

At l she has walked that district and listened to the "citizens of Continental Villa." As the Town Leader how many of Alex's elected officals brought door-to-door. Zero.

Suozzi, Gugerty, and Sklavos had nothing to do with this project. It was the Venditto and his Republican Council that had to approve the zoning.

Know the levels of gov't before you post again.

I know my level of governement. But the prior two post stated a connection with Suozzi and the owner of the project and more importantly the apathy of the community. Sklavos and Gugerty were the politcal leaders in that Nghborhood and never said a word in opposition.

Alex is the Town Leader and Dave was the committeeman for that ED. They could have spoken out. But Suozzi wanted it.

And your forgetting the 3 million dollar county road project which improved the roadway directly in front of this project. The project went far beyond improving the flood situation and just happened to occur at the same time as the amusement park project. Just luck I guess.

It provided several new crosswalks to access the park from the public beaches and improved the parking in front of the park. In addition, it included many aesthetic improvements which just happen to be right in front of the park.

NOT TRUE!!! Bayville is an incorporated village with it's own government and zoning laws. it's bayville property - not TOB. Let's not spew propaganda and distract readers from the real issues. The Village and the residents knew this travesty was occurring - just as they know the same owners of the "carnival" are looking to develop other properties on the strip. Unless residents get involved soon, Bayville will be the new Seaside Hghts.

Here's a cover tune by Johnny and the JV Squad

Beth, I hear you callin
But I cant come home right now
Me and the boys are playin
And we just cant find the sound
Just a few more hours
And Ill be right home to you
I think I hear them callin
Oh, beth what can I do
Beth what can I do

You say you feel so empty
That our house just aint a home
And Im always somewhere else
And youre always there alone

Just a few more hours
And Ill be right home to you
I think I hear them callin
Oh, beth what can I do
Beth what can I do

Beth, I know youre lonely
And I hope youll be alright
cause me and the boys will be playin
All night

No. Thats not the "real Issue." The writer stated she "seemed uninterested" as they are mind readers. In the same sentence that stated she was on The Friends of the Bay which was incorrect.

This was after they admitted that the Supervisor was "extremely cooperative." Maybe with all the inferences in that letter we should infer that Ms. Faughnam was working with the supervisor on the matter in which case she should be commended.

The real issue is who sent the letter and why. We know it was posted on this site by the Oyster Bay Democratic leader as it appears on his committee's website with the same sentences highlighted. He lives in that nghborhood so it appears he had a hand in its writing.

The question is why point the finger at Ms. Faughnan. Maybe because she is the most visable elected offical in Locust Valley and the Oyster Bay Democratic leader resents that as his party is non-existant in the community. A community in which he lives.

So instead of getting his own party officals involved he attacks the one elected offical who has taken a lead on this issue.

Sklovas is the most disgraceful, useless political figure in Nassau County.
