Hello before I ask this question I want to say that I have no record just 1 speeding ticket about 3 years ago.
Anyway the question is am I still eligible to be a police officer if I have stolen from my job? Now automatically I know your going to say no but here is the situation so please read before you judge
I have worked at this company for 5 1/2 years around 2 years ago the manager was very crooked and when customers would come in and order a coffe which is equivalent to $1.25 she would tell us to put it under the register or keep it in your pocket and don’t ring it. At the end of the night if the draw isn’t short we can keep it so I did this. Her reasoning was we are making the coffe and we usually don’t charge for customers who are staying ther so might as well just make a $1 off of it. Of course this is wrong and I did it so I accept what ever consequences come from this I just hope it isn’t my future I was 20 at the time and I will be 23 soon. It was bad judgment and me and another co-worker are the ones who ended up provided the proof of her theft to get her fired (she was stealing allot more then a $1 here and there) In the 5 years I was there I only did this during the year she was the manager. Since then I have pretty much paid back the money and some more by buying an extra coffee when someone ordered one and I would pay for it even though im not taking one for my self (of course this doesn’t make it right, and I know that)
My other question is what should I tell the investigator when it comes down to it I plan on telling the facts but I don’t want it to seem like i am making excuses but at the same time I want them to know the circumstances (not excusing my actions)
I have seen reactions on this forum and I know i am going to be put down and made to look like a animal but I made a mistake in judgment and like I said I don’t feel like this should destroy me but I know how police look at stealing.
Suggestions please ?
