Yonivore, are you completely ignorant of your own mindset on this matter, and how it reflects the mindset of those who ARE "trashing" Amb. Wilson and his wife?
You claim he's only doing this for political reasons (and the smear campaign against him isn't?), you claim it's irrelevant that she was exposed (a VERY uneducated point of view), etc.
For more insight into this matter, check out Salon.com. They have a long article written by John W. Dean, who worked in the Nixon White House.

the Right doesn't like what Amb. Wilson had to say so they out his wife. When they get caught what do they do? They first try to trash his wife......and then try to trash him.
so much for personal responsibility, integrity in the WH and national security!

Observer, you are probably right, and I apologize.
But it really annoys me when people point there fingers at others without realizing they are doing the same thing.
According to Yonivore, every time he criticises "liberals", he's in the right, but criticism of "conservatives" is off limits, and is motivated by anti-Americanism or something. He doesn't seem to accept the fact that there are multiple levels of intelligence, or the fact that his picture of a situation might NOT be correct after all. I admit that freely, as I've been wrong about issues before. But what Yonivore represents seems to be a scarier turn towards Faith-based government. We have FAITH that they're not doing any wrong. There's even religious undertones to his, and many other people's posts on this board (Demoncrats is a good example). It just seems very counter-productive, and I don't think it's in keeping with the best values of this country.

I never said criticism of "conservatives" is off limits. Have at it. But, I reserve the right to respond. I have never once asked you to stop criticizing, have I?
I never questioned your patriotism or called you Anti-American. I merely think you're wrong and that causes you some upset, I'm sorry.
Talk about denying multiple levels of intelligence. You act as though Wilson were the definitive authority on the Niger affair. He was sent to Niger to determine if Saddam Hussn had bought uranium from them. After ght days of drinking mint tea and interviewing a few former peers in the Nigerian Diplomatic Corps, he pronounces there is no evidence to show Iraq bought any uranium from Niger. Fine, I can accept that. And, I don't recall him recving any particular criticism from the administration or the "vast right-wing conspiracy" for reaching that determination. But, you and you ilk hold this up as definitive proof that President Bush lied in the State of the Union Address.
First, that assertion discounts every other avenue of intelligence gathering employed by the U.S. Government and other governments. Second, while Wilson was sent to investigate whether a transaction had actually occurred, Bush merely claimed that "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussn recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
Is there not a difference between acquiring uranium and seeking to acquire uranium? The Brits still stand by thr intelligence. What's interesting is that the 16 words do not mention Niger (Niger wasn't the only African country from which Saddam has sought uranium in the past) and they do not claim actual acquisition of uranium.
I don't think my position is unreasonble, given the facts. I also don't believe the Administration is ther obligated or inclined to enter the fray and reveal what intelligence source they did base this on just to satisfy the rantings and unsubstantiated allegations of Demoncrats and of the liberal left.
Billyboby, you're the one that seems convinced of thr point of view and thr characterization of this particular "scandal." To accuse me of bng intransigent on this issue is like the pot calling the kettle black.
From where does your characterization that my posts represent "a scarier turn towards Faith-based government" come?
Having faith in a believe doesn't automatically translate to religion. I have faith my children will grow up and not be Billybobs...that doesn't translate to a religious belief. You're really reaching on that one...yet another sign of the untenable position in which you find yourself on the issue at hand.
I'm not sure you callin me ignorant, stupid, and whatever else you've thrown at me is very productive in "keeping with the best values of this country" ther.
Why can't you stick to the argument (debate) and quit rambling about vast right wing conspiracies, espousing characterizations as if they were truth, and hurling personal invectives about my intelligence, honesty, and character? Why don't we try civil debate for awhile. That would be in keeping with "the best values of this country."
How 'bout it?
