View Full Version : Hicksville Fd Under The Table Raises

It was recently reported that the Hicksville FD Superintendent got a $12,000 raise this year, which is 12% more than his former salary. I am a little amazed at the amount, considering the Deputy Sheriffs got 3.65% a year over 3 years, after waiting for almost 3 years.
It was also said that this was done at a "not so public" meeting of only 3 commissioners.
What's the truth? We await you comments.

1- meetings by a bofc regarding personnel are not public, by law
2- what was this person making before the raise
3- was his previous salary in line with what is normal for that job or was he under-paid and this raise was a correction?
I'm not nudging this right or wrong but please provide the real facts please

1. The BOFC was not having a discussion about a personnel issue, it was a salary issue for a position at the district. This is not to be held in executive session, but in an open and public meeting.
2. If you could do the math you would deduct that the position was paying $100,000 per year. A 12% raise equals $12,000.
3. I don't think that $100,000 was under paid, but on top of that salary in previous years he was banging the taxpayers for another $30,000 in overtime. OVERTIME - you must be kidding, the person who holds that position sets his own hours and is the top management position. Managers, in the real world don't get overtime.

Is it possible the large raise is to compensate for the person losing the ability to collect overtime? That happens a lot in the real world.

I don't think it's a question of why, I think it's more - was it kept secret from the public and how much do we really need to pay the manager of a Volunteer Fire Dept.

Raise was given back in December 2007. Recent altercation was within last week to 10 days.
Meeting was not "under the table" as some liar writes, it was a regular schedule PUBLIC meeting.
Man who got raise obviously is worth it if he has the ability to save all the taxpayers over $400,000.
If all the cowards that write negative comments would take some time and go to a PUBLIC meeting, they would be able to get their facts first hand and not hear them from the person who started all the trouble.

Every civil service job in Nassau county is over paid to begin with.
who oversees the fire commissioner ? Basicly the overtime $30,000 is grand larceny, who verified he stayed the hours he said he did? probably no one !! Nassau county will eventually crash and burn our home values will drop, all because of the tax rate, abuses by the town employees, Nassau county employees , politicians ect.

That a nice story about saving the taxpayers over $400,000 then what the hell are the commissioners doing for the taxpayers? 5 commissioners and one superintendent means millions in savings for the taxpayers but anyone with a half of brain knows that every fire commissioner in nassau is a thief, Many more will go down when the useless D.A. starts to do her job.
