Last I knew he was on the Town of Babylon Plumbing Board. I heard he did that so that he could keep bng on our benefits payroll.
You would think he could extract money and benefits from other places, but last I heard Babylon was stuck with him.
Rich is the most honest politican anywhere. He should run for county exec. and whoop Bob's butt.
Rich should be the dem's candidate for C.E. and he should declare soon. A lot of bad press for Bob Gaffney right now and it is only going to get worse. Get off the fence Rich we need you.

Schaefer is the democrats only hope, if there really is any. Bishop is too arrogant and can barely win his own leg. races. To be blunt nobody likes him. Petrone is a turncoat and history tell us that does not work in Suffolk County. So if there is to be a race next year it has to be Rich. Right now my dog could beat Gaffney.

If you people knew the Rich Schaffer that I know you would be ashamed of saying what you have said. He is the most corrupt political leader there is. Remember the former DA's investigation of Babylon. Rich was a heart beat from an inditement. He says he fought the garbagemen but if you check BOA filings they all took care of him. If the DA did not screwup the last case against Doug Jacob. they would have proven that he met with the Garbagemen and left with a sack of money for him and Rich.

You are just W R O N G.
The DA did not screw up the case. He had no case and the juries agreed and in fact so did the DA since he DROPPED a good chunk of his cases. Your comments are outrageous. You are, however, entitled to your opinions no matter how stupid they are, and the US Constitution protects your right to express them. You sound like a loser. You shouve one one hundreth of Schaffer's guts and integrity.
the only reason catterson made up the charges against Babylon is because the republicans knew Rich was going to be a threat to them down the road. Look what they got for it, a democrat for a D.A.

I would like to enlighten you on your so called hero Rich
The DA did screw up the last case he let his main witness get away and the "MOB" threatened him so he would not testify. He witnessed Doug picking up the "BAG" of money for Rich and the boys. Why did Rich take all of the contributions from the garbagemen that he said were trying to take over the town. This is a example of Rich's integrity.

Is Rich had done anything improper the Cat would have not "screwed it up" or let a witness "get away"
The only person the Cat hated more than Rich was Pat Mahoney
Give it a rest commiss
I really hope that Rich steps up to the plate. We have not had a real race for County Executive in 10 years.

You complain about Rich bng corrupt. Maybe there was nothing really there. Maybe you are just mad that you and the other Republicans could not get the rest of the world to believe your lies. Yet you continue on.
The Republicans praised Catterson and a great man who was full of integrity and held the office and did the job perfectly. Yet you sit here and talk about how he messed up the case. So which is it? Was he a great DA who did the job perfectly or are you just ashamed to say that there was nothing going on in Babylon and the average citizen proved it.

I'm baffled that anyone could seriously believe that there was nothing to the Babylon indictments and that the charges were made up. These cases were admittedly over-indicted, but it seems to me that people forget that the town director of finance, Doug Jacob, was convicted of 8 seperate misdemeanors directly related to the performance of his duties. His attorney picked the same jury as the DA, and they found beyond a reasonable doubt that he broke the law on multiple occasions. Was the jury in on this conspiracy of persecuting Babylon Dems? Then we kept hearing about how they would have the convictions overturned on appeal. Didn't happen. The Appellate Court in Brooklyn found "the evidence of guilt overwhelming". I guess the judges in Brooklyn were also part of the conspiracy. Some of the charges stuck because the law was broken. Deal with it. Afterall, Doug is still the chief financial guy in the town, even though he doesn't live there. You'd think the Dems could find a qualified resident of the town without a criminal record for that job.

Of all the files charged you are so proud to say that 8 were held up.
And everyone keeps calling Schaffer a crook. Yet no charges were filed against him. No convictions against him. The other 3 out of 4, all charges dismissed.
There were close to 100 charges filed and 8 were held up. If I were right 8 out of 100 times in my job I'm sure I'd be fired.
Why don't you take a look at people like Nolan, Strickoff, Kaphand and Horsley. These are the people taking advantage of our government and they aren't called criminals. Yet Rich Schaffer who showed up to work and had no criminal charges was called a criminal.
Sounds like someone wants to smear Schaffer's name. Take a look at Babylon today and not Babylon past and you will know what criminals are.

You may be right about bng fired if you were right 8 out of 100 times. The way I look at it , Catterson was fired. But can we agree you'd be even more likely to be fired if you were convicted of multiple misdemeanors directly related to the performance of your duties?

Concerned, you are correct in that someone would have been fired for having 8 misdemeanors. The problem here is that Catterson filed a rediculous number of unfounded charges and those 8 misdemeanors were origionally filed as felonies. The jury did knock them down from the felonies and there were acquittals on the others. There should have been no indictments in the first place. If Cattersons standards were followed around this state, scool district administrators and other municipal officials would be indicted in every part of New York State. The other problem is that Cattersons entire case was so blatantly political and personal that even the 8 technical misdemeanors are hard to swallow for anyone connected to the case. It is an emotinal reaction to the catterson witch hunt that probably keeps Jacob from bng fired. It may not be "right" that he was retained, but it is almost understandable. Catterson ruined enough people's lives, and not just in Babylon, with his strange and unprecedented poitical use of his office. So I guess no one wants to cause any further damage to someone. This is old news. Lets move on.
If Bishop defeats Grucci and Israel wins big Schaefer might finally step up to run. Bishop and Israel could help Schaefer with big money fundraisers.
More to come on Gaffney (Grecco) land scandal and now health insurance blunders.

I am not too sure about Schaffer but as far as the legalees of the Babylon Five, they all knew what was bg done and the falsified documents were falsified.
I knew one of the jurors and they felt they were guilty, why Schaffer wasn't indicted along with the rest is beyond me. The captain of the ship surely knows what's going on and if not he absolutely should.
As I understand it presently, the only individual of the 5 who was convicted was Mr. Douglas Jacob, and his charges were lowered from felonies to misdemeanors and he has presently lost all 8 of his appeals.
I also understand that he has left the Town of Babylon and taken a position with a private school somewhere in Brooklyn.
Is Mr. Schaffer the most honest man in politics, that in itself is ironic and twisted, there are not honest politicians, they really have no chance on honesty. I think they are kind of bought and sold.

Quite frankly, the reasson they all got off was legal technicality. When the judge Charged the jury on the law he did it incorrectly.
