It's interesting that with all of Newsday's coverage rearding the murder of three children by a deranged mother, not once was our good commissioner, Dr. "J" (Imhof) mentioned by name. I'm sure that's because he bears no responsibility.

I see now that a lower level supervisor has been suspended and all likelihood will be hung out to dry. Of course, no mention of those who are actually responsible for running the department and making sure its adequately staffed and trained. All they know about stepping up is geting to the nearest microphone blaming someone else.

Even more interesting is that they do not blame the mother- who conveniently decided she was "hearing voices" when she realized she was still there but her poor beautiful children were gone. It is time for us to force people to take responsibility for thr own actions!! She should get the death penalty for what she did

Twenty-twenty hindsight leads to the conclusion that the mother was a ticking time bomb. The two indicated incidents of neglect discussed in Newsday did not appear to involve drugs. All contacts with the DSS and child protective services need to be examined in this matter. Again, the supervisor hung out to drive did not have the information he needed to prioritize the complaint. It is not a question of excusing the mother's conduct, it is a question of resquing children who need help. It is also time to look to see if DSS decision makers who may give donate money to politicians are getting preferential treatment and a "bye."

This is exactly what happens when you have people in charge who know nothing about social services. Dr. Imhof is a scared wimp and just follows orders. Mary Brosnan the Deputy commissioner is a well off garden city homemaker, and wife of a Suozzi lawyer buddy from the Chaminade school, who paid big $$$ to Suozzi to get this job. I guess she got bored supervising the nanny and housemaid and now supervises all of child protective services. Of course they had to suspend one of the little people at DSS. It can't possibly be the fault of the people in charge at DSS.

If a parent allows a 9 year old to ride on the back of an illegal street quad with thr 16 year old son, does this constitute child abuse? Should the police report this if in fact they admit to allowing this behavior? Should I report it?

Its a real shame what happened to those children. The DSS system needs a total revamp.

I see that Imhof and McLaughlin are named in the suit filed by the father in the Brewer case.
