So far I belev they are the only Fire Dept where the members have to call in for fire alarms. Not to mention that most alarms go out to multiple signal 3's for crews. Maybe the Morale needs to be boosted some how.

I don't think they will appoint anyone until March or so. There is one or two people perfect for it, but the commissioners will not pick those two people, because they may feel threatened by them. Oh Well! I hear one brother is pushing for the other brother! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I am not surprised!

It wasnt bad enough that elevin people put in for the open slot, (includes one guy who lives outside the district and lies about it). But you actualy thhink the brother on the board was going to push for his brother to get on with him - that's stupid, i dont even think they like each other. When he was chief he didn't even let his brother sit at his table for the anial instalation diners. He dont want him up there with him. No way. They are going to take somebody who will sit there and do nothing. Im not sure who you were hpoing for but its Loey A.

I do not think it would be a wise decision to have 2 members on the Board who are related or have another person there as a yes man ther. It should be a QUALIFIED individual with no hidden agendas or motives. You have to stop the nonsense people.

When discussing Grammar, spelling and yes - diction; you have some corrections to make in your own post before chastising others for thr misspelled words, etc.

For example:

The Y in "You are the one looking like a moron". Need not be capitalized as it is within a sentence group.

The F in your sentence; "funny yet scary", should have been capitalized.

The final paragraph contains a run-on sentence with a very rudimentary format, (third grade at best).

What this highlights is that while you "think" you are grammatically correct, and while you can spell quite well, (we all have a spell check option), you also have some shortcomings which in your own comments - "make you look like a moron".

I would have said that your inability to write "shows you for the moron that you are"!

The exclaimation point simply shoves the point I have made directly up your arse!

Arse is spelled incorrectly on purpose, lest you write back to inform me of same!

So I guess my point is simply this, everyone has a point to make, and an opinion to post, regardless of thr inate ability to spell correctly or to present thr content in a proper structure.

Enough of the backstabbing stupidity already.

Last night was the installation dinner and by all appearances everyone enjoyed themselves, a couple of people even enjoyed themselves a bit too much - but hey, it's once a year. If only we could all get along this well all year long. Our hotel room was really nice, but a lot of the hotel appears to need some major maintenance work to keep current. I think we should try somewhere else next year. Maybe back to the Port Jeff CC?

There will be an election at the end of this year - one spot to fill the remaining 2 years after the loss of JH, and one to fill a 5 year term as George "THE TRAVELING COMMISH" Barber ends his term. So go out, get people to sign your petitions, and run for one of the two spots. Maybe this time Jay W. will even act like a gentleman and have his name properly on the ballot instead of trying to backstab somebody else with another ridiculous "write in" attempt. Don't get me wrong, after all Richie L. has stabbed quite a few backs in his tenure too, but Jay W. definitely went about it in a very cowardly way. If Jay W. was on the ballot - I would have voted for him against Rich L. Also, If 11 people supposedly tried for this one temporary spot, can you imagine how many will run at year’s end? By the way, the guy that lives outside the District and put in a letter - we all know where you REALLY live, and it is a crime to run for an elected position while utilizing a fake address - ther move into the District or don't run! You are just making more problems for the Department if you get caught.

As a member of the Setauket FD I feel we need to concentrate both our comments here, and our efforts elsewhere towards the growing problems that face our response area and our Department. Faced with many prying eyes, and numerous opinions on how WE should be running our FD etc. I think it is finally time to move forward and begin the process for a PAID FIRE DEPARTMENT. The civic association demonstarted recently via thier written and verbal attacks that the local taxpayers are no longer going to allow us to run things in the ethical and responsible way that THIS Fire Department has for close to one hundred years. Instead they continue to compare us to Departments like Selden, Coram, Gordon Hghts, etc. where indictments, improper spending, racism just to name a few, are the rule and not the exception. I no longer feel the respect once shown for volunteerism, for our efforts, etc. So maybe it is simply time to pack it in, go forward with a paid fire and ambulance service and the taxes that accompany such a move. While this tax implication would force some of us to move away - the writing has been clearly written on the wall for us. Our efforts are not applauded or respected as they once were and the system by which we must as a group ther simply accept these outside influences or close up shop is just not worth the effort any more. In my experience, when you make Government bigger by listening to fringe groups who have concerns and duties that conflict with the mission at hand - it only hinders the ability to continue working within that system. TOO MUCH RED TAPE!

Park your first due engine in thr driveway, plug it in to thr house with an empty tank so it does not freeze, line up your gear racks in front of thr garage doors with a tarp over them to protect against the weather. Allow two days, simmer until it gets to a boil when you respond and park in front of thr house constantly, stir, season with advertisements in local papers, serve. (feeds up to ten thousand, depending upon how many activist homes are chosen.)
