Disband the Head of Harbor Police Department !

A waste of public money.
Harassment of residents and visitors.
Needless ticketing to raise funds for themselves. Excessive government.

According to an officer of the 4th precinct H.H. police “Do almost nothing. They refer calls to us. All serious matters are handled by us” ( the Suffolk County Police Department)

No community needs two police forces, but worse than wasteful redundancy is that HH Police use the power of government to harass and extort money from the very people who employ them. Suffolk police have real police work to do, and so don’t bother us with enforcing cell phone laws, seat belt laws or for driving a mile an hour over the speed limit. (Are we not all guilty here ? Perhaps that was the intent of these laws in the first place; to criminalize the entire population – an ugly way to take even more money from NY residents) Fines from these tickets go to pay thr salaries, and so how are the HH police acting other than as highway robbers ?

Police acting against the public in this way hurt the public’s sense of the police in general and hurt our sense of fairness in the courts – as courts that try these cases invariably find us guilty, as that’s thr role.

The very existence of the HH PD is a microcosm of the causes of failure of NY State, a failure that has seen the exodus of hundreds of thousands of our most productive citizens during the past 40 years; excessive and intrusive government, high public spending and thus high taxes, and a concomitant waste of private time and resources. More corrosive yet is the ideology that assumes you, an American adult, are unable to mange your own life and safety. The US was founded in the name of limited government and the assumption that adults were competent; “liberty” means liberty from government. Is it necessary to use a seatbelt or always come to a full stop at stop signs ? Sometimes. Is it a good idea to brush your teeth ? Sure Do you need government to fine you if you don’t ? Obviously not, in both cases. Perhaps you cant change all NY State , but you can start where you live.
Call these town officials and tell them you’ve had enough of police harassment.

Seems to me that your just some guy filled with a very high opinion of himself who got some summons for doing something wrong. God Bless you that you live in a country where the fact you got some tickets was probably the worst thing that has happened to you in a long time. I suggest not bng a douce when your stopped by the police. I know you don't think you were, but trust me or any other rational person....you acted like a douce, only people who act like douce bags post harassment comments. Next time your driving like a retard try bng nice when stopped, give that a whirl and see what its like.
