One firehouse had an officer who was afraid to go in a smoky bldg; so why was he an officer? One station had brand new trucks bought that didn't fit in the firehouse so a re-do of the station had to be done. And why was the HQ done over so the dispatcher could see out the front? Did the HQ really need a re-do for a brand new party area? This is tax dollars for capital and trucks. And why the fancy chief cars? They don't do aything until the trucks arrive so why all the equipment sitting there.

"Party" money is from fundraising and don't be naive there is a lot of drinking at parties. If you don't like that aspect, don't give when they come knocking on your door. It's your choice.

They all deserve credit for volunteering time for drills, meetings and for running to fires. But let's not go overboard. There are not many huge fires here; these are Levitt houses (which by the way only have six inch foundation so why the tag line about never losing one). Rarely does a house burn to the ground. A house that is completed gutted by a fire can still stand even though it gets condemned and eventually torn down.

I've seen good and bad sides of the LFD. Unfortunately the jerks who are on power trips give everyone else a bad name. Would love to name people but I'm sure everyone in the LFD already knows who they are.
