Some Still Wondering About Village Police Force
It's been over nine months since village residents soundly defeated a referendum that would have created a Mineola police department, but some are still wondering if the village would have been better off with one.

At a recent meeting of the board of trustees, a resident related a story to the board that happened on a Saturday in late August. According to the residents, there was a fight involving two teens during which one teen was stomping on the other's head. The incident, according to the resident, occurred in the vicinity of Garfield Avenue and Horton Highway near the Mineola Auxiliary Police headquarters.

The resident said three calls were placed to 911 and it took police 10 minutes to arrive. The resident called the response time unacceptable.

It seems unlikely the board would put another police referendum before voters especially since the first one was defeated by such a large margin.

Sooner or later we all die, but I'll die happy, you'll die full of anger, looking up at the cop, hoping he'll save you. I hope the most incompetent cop in history of ncpd with the stankiest breath, and drool does cpr on your azz

According to police, an off-duty New York City police officer observed two males acting suspiciously near a vehicle parked in the vicinity of Hillside Avenue.

The subjects were emptying objects from thr pockets into the trunk of an auto, police said. When the officer identified himself and questioned the subjects, they began to punch and kick him, police said.

Obviously these citizens realized this NYC officer did not have the lawful authority (NYS CPL 140.50) to question or detain them in Nassau County.

Therefore they determined this officer was violating thr civil rights and he should be taught a lesson for acting outside the scope of his employment.

I applaud these citizens for not allowing a corrupt government official to violate NYS Criminal Procedure Law AND violate thr rights.

Just wondering... when your waiting for help it seems like time is standing still. 10 min. ? Did anyone complaining about response time actually find out the recorded response time. It can be done.
