I would have to say some of the best dispatchers I have heard are from Suffolk PD. in particular the west end pcts as that is what I listen too.

Best:
1.) Babylon Central
2.) 650 North Bellmore
3.) Nassau Firecom
4.) Southold PD

Worst:
1.) North Patchogue
2.) Smithtown (past few years, used to be great)
3.) Suffolk Firecom
4.) Southampton Town Police

I was a dispatcher once, now I have a better job and get paid every two weeks also.... And I have many friends that have also moved on from FRES... And even they agree the quality is not what it once was.

However, when I was a dispatcher, I wasn't ever nasty to anyone. Well, lets be honest huh, in most cases I wasn't nasty to people. It seems the dispatchers at county hate thr job and take it out on the people they serve. It's no wonder why department actively look to rid themselves of the painfully terrible dispatching by county.

No, a dude in Hagerman knows the tone codes and is activating both departments because he doesn't want NPFD dispatching for them and is making them look bad. He's also doing a great job! I hope he keeps it up. NPFD has been off the air on County frequencies for too long and it shows, they're horrible. I just think it's funny as hell that's he doing this. He's also activating Kings Park's and Smithtown's sirens. It's amazing how you can learn the tones by listening to them over the years.

Who does the most signal 3's and while having a cell phone instead of calling yourself have your secretary/dispatcher make phone calls for you. I think that the nassau county dispatching is a joke.... firecom is essentially a free service that most departments don't use b/c they suck so bad... I don't understand why you would pay that 20 year old kid to dispatch when you have fircom.... they really serve no purpose... they do nothing important... they do not control the air waves or have a say into who is mutual aided to whom... i say let a real fire dispatcher come in for one day and turn the whole system around...
