i agree. get rid of the trash (every district has one), but keep the ones that are doing the right thing for the firefighter's / EMT's as well as the taxpayers.

ABSOLUTELY!! But I wouldn't call ALL of them TRASH, but I certainly do believe some are up there for the wrong reasons.
VOTE THEM OUT!!

Big changes coming in Middle Island, 4 commissioner seats are open, rumor is one current Commissioner is opting for a one year term, another appointed Commissioner is running and two firemen are running in the other two spots and both are bng challanged, Two people running for a two year term, and another firefighter is challenging the 5 year incumbnent, only problem is, most in the FD don't want ther one and are "quietly" getting an outsider to make a last minute entry and will walk all over both firemen, hoping one will bail out to make it easier.

You have 4 Commissioners up at the same time? That kind of change is going to send your department into a tail spin.

but remember, please run an individual that is going to do the job needed in bng Fire Commissioner. Our communities deserve the best, and I believe we can achieve this and more without raising taxes, or jepordizing the services provided.

I Agree!! Vote for the person who will do a good job for everyone.. There is enough complacency on the BOFC as it is now... It's time it all stops... the taxpayers need it.

We definetly need new commissioners in ITFD. Some of the ones in there now think they are of a higher power because a hand full of people showed up to vote for them. All some of them want to do is to find fault and cause problems for the people who are trying to better the dept. What are they so afaid of?!!!!!

I'm thinking that MOST of the departments have this problem. They forget who is running the department.

I wouldn't say vote them all out. Some commissioners that are up for re-election this year do put a lot of there time and effort into the un-paying job that they take on. They are dedicated, if they weren't they would not be running for re-election. I support the commissioner in my town who is running for re-election. He produces! Just because certain people want to write articles in newspapers bad mouthing the fire service, doesn't mean they are doing a bad job. Think of the positive things they do. Think for once what the volunteers need. Most of these commissioners are volunteers also. They are Paramedics, EMT's, Ex-Chiefs, Ex-Captains and just plain Firefighter. They get for those calls at 1 am to pick Mrs. SOnSo up after she fell out of bed, or they come to your house a 5am because your carbon monoxide detector is going off. They are doing a job to only better the community! Think about that when you go to vote on Dec 11. Most competition they recve comes from within the department, usually a member who doesn't get along with each other and only looking for some pay back or revenge.

I agree 100% Not ALL the Commissioners need to be replaced. For the most part they are there for the right reason. You need to look at who you are voting for and see what they have done or COULD do for the fire service & members. No need to vote in the same type of person that you are trying to vote out.
Good luck to all the candidates.

They are not the same person. Commissioner Ed Stewart Jr. VS. 2nd asst. Chief Ed Stewart III. Do a little research before you start typing away.

2 questions, if I may.
1) why are your hours so short compared to other districts?
2) why is the same person who was a commissioner a few years ago, who resigned, running again? Are we going to here the universal, I was sick, or had an illness story? People, think before you pull the lever!!

Please get out and vote Tuesday from 3-9 p.m. at the King Road firehouse. We need a change and John Searing is more than capable of providing Rocky Point with a positive and fresh start to the new year.

1) Tradition, nobody complained before, can be changed, come to a meeting and ask for it.
2) Evidently he was diagnosed, was unfounded. Two way race for his seat anyway, vote the one you want in. And there is no lever Jacka$$.

Listen I agree with you, I am a member of a local Fd, an am a ex-chief of an ambulance company, but if you want a say in were the money goes then join a department, because you have no right to tell us were our money should go, because you have no idea what goes on. These people are volunteers and need some perks for risking thr lives to save others.
