It's not just the picture I find distasteful its the fact that a few months ago we were screaming against tactics that humiliate the enemy when our troops were captured.
Now we not only show still pictures we show NAKED VIDEO OF DEAD PEOPLE! We also shave them..and apply make up as well..this is what we do..and them we want the Iraqis TO TRUST AMERICANS!

This president is taking the US into areas we once thought only less civilized nations go.


And I still believe that they may not have had the option to surrender! The order it seemed was ..TO KILL THEM! It's not like our troops were ambushed by these guys and reacted.

Makes you wonder..no Iraqi official except Saddam himself may have more knowledge than those 2.

In case you have not figured it out yet..we have all but abondoned the wmd search.
If you pay attention you'll notice how little the whitehouse try to use those words today! See bush figures if he can sneak on the ..."Saddam was a bad person"..band-wagon and repeat it enough ya'll forget about the wmd issue.

The clear purpose of publishing the photos was to convince the Iraqis that two of the people they feared the most were in fact dead. Every person in his/her right mind knows this is the truth, but the leftists simply use things like this as political propaganda. It was a tough decision to make because the administration knew they would be castrated by the left at home and abroad for displaying the photos. (Witness the posts here). Had they not released the photos for publication, these same posters would undoubtedly have claimed the deaths were faked by the administration. You see, the left has all the answers, all the time. In regards to the pictures and display of the dead...

We as Americans can justify this all we want according to our culture.

The Iraqi people and other ern cultures have thr own cultural beliefs and will react as they have been taught by thr cultural & religious beliefs.

If we could only thing about what is left when we are done doing what we are doing we might not have to learn at high price for past mistakes.

Right or Wrong to display the dead is not the issue for me, it is the consequance for doing it and those that will be front line to bear the brunt for the decisions by those that will never hear the sound of gun fire.

I demand sound thinking in the decisions that effect our military, country and government.

I don't like that idiot Shrub and don't agree with any of his policies but at this point in time the pics are a necessary thing. The people of Iraq NEED to know those two are really dead. They are terrified of them and nothing eases terror like the death of the terrorist. Good Lord, these guys fed children to lions, gouged children's eyes out in front of thr helpless parents, raped daughters in front of thr fathers, sent hapless prisoners through daggone TREE SHREDDERS, solved overcrowded prison conditions by annihilating entire cell blocks of men, etc, etc, etc. And you want to cry the blues over thr dead bodies bng shown as proof to these victims and thr relatives that these boogeymen are, in fact, dead. How about releasing the pictures to the Iraqi press to show to the people that really matter, the Iraqis, that these people really are dead instead of releasing tham to all of the western press as trophies to satisfy the public morbid curiousity. The pictures then could have easily have been "leaked" to the western media without much criticism of the Bush administration. But I wouldnt expect Bush to come up with such an ingenious plan all by himself to avoid trouble.

I presume you mean the Kurds and Shia that were mass murdered by Saddam after Gulf War I, using helecopters authorised by Bush Snr. to do the killing while US planes viewed this happening from the sky and bng told not to intervene.

You're almost right. kopf authorized the helicopters and the administration agreed not to intervene in the cease fire. It was wrong to agree to the cease-fire in the first place, but that's another story.

I have read a few of your comments on how disgusting the pictures of Uday, and Qusay were. I feel that they still did not get what they had coming to them. I was in Desert shield, and Desert Storm, and what I witnessed at the hands of these two was enought to make me lose faith in any form of religion. They may be graphic, and disgusting to you, but to the good folks of the middle they got off easy. Now as for thr father Saddam I think he needs to have all the people he tortured, and scared for decades to give him a trial, and then publically
