A Bellport man waived his right to a grand jury during a court conference in Riverhead today and pled guilty to child porn and sodomy charges in a Superior Court Information before County Judge Barbara Kahn.

Michael A. Artis of Bellport, a security guard who once served as a Suffolk County auxiliary police officer, pleaded guilty to use of a child in a sexual performance and sodomy in the third degree. Artis victimized two juvenile females described in the SCI as bng under the age of 17.

The defendant was arrested by police on March 28, 2007.

Judge Kahn will sentence the 47-year-old defendant on September 5 to five to 15 years on the use of a of child charge concurrent to one and one-third to four years on the sodomy count.
