Just read this posting dated 11/1/04 by Stark Reality Sorry, couldn't find the link (it appeared in LI Life in the Oyster Bay edition). But an average 7.6% increase in salaries. Coincidentally, a proposed 7.6% hike in the property tax rate. $5.3 million increase total for town employees. Not disclosed how much for Venditto. Greenskeeper making $104,000. 5 bay constables (?!), currently at $285,632 combined, up for a combined $20,000 increase. Town golf course director, currently making $89,000/yr, up for a $4,400 raise. Who's watching the store?
Would like to know more about how our taxes are wasted by Oyster Bay officials.Those of you on the inside who know what's going on start posting and lets get a dialog going.Expose those who think they can do what ever they want because they know someone.If your a town employee you know whats going on. Let the public know.

Disgruntled Taxpayer you must be a TOB employee making big bucks and doing nothing.My nghbor works for the town highway claims he pulls down $75,000 with out overtime and does about 2 hours of work a day.Says he gets 25 vacation days 13 sick days and 5 personal days.He has a town truck leaves work anytime he wants for shopping or doctor visits.He can't wait for the snow all that OT to do nothing.

The amount of money wasted,the equipment missing, the hiring of people that can't do the work,(physical or mentally) and the people who just don't give a sh_ _ . Guess you can find truly superior municipal services if you move to your beloved New York City with the rest of the liberals who love big government. Try a life filled with alternate side of the street parking, transit cops who love giving tickets even after the sweepers passed through, a judiciary in the pockets of the city law department, poor road surface quality, parks in disrepair, a public school system which is so bad that you have to place your kids in expensive private schools, and all of those other fine amenities.

Take your face out of Venditto's butt for a minute and answer this simple question: since you're happy with town services, what level increase would be good for you? 20%? 30%? Sky's the limit? And I lived in North Hempstead for 8 years and they provided every service you listed (Garbage pickup? Paved roads? Miraculous!) BUT managed to keep spending under control, at l while I lived there. So do I have the right to ask the question? While I pay the frght, you're darned right I do.

Yore just plain wrong.

North hempstead's Town Taxes have been raised over 130 percent in the last 10 budgets (compared to like a 40% CPI over that time).

Also, NH's residents are the most taxed residents of any comparable town in NYS.

Also, NH has the highest debt burden (per capita) of all Towns in NYS, over 10% of all Town bonded debt in NYS (which has about 950 towns). NH pays more in debt service each year (pric and int) than it generates in tax revenue.

And, there are ZERO sevices bng provided.

So, unless you moved from NH 20 years ago, you just don't know what you're talking about.

Are you kidding? You realize that they ONLY work when its OVERTIME., (i.e. Saturdays, holidays, After 3pm ect.) Any other time of the day they are hiding in the basement of town hall in the TV room with the door locked, or going to fire calls.

Not to mention the fact that half of the upper execs of the TOB are political hacks, some shouldnt even be employeed or be in the position that they currently hold...

Just found this thread. Do not live in OB, but do work for the County. County pays peanuts compared to OB. (I am in a position to see these salaries.) Also, you people have more employees than virtually anywhere else. And what do they do? Try to reach someone-I have to sometimes-before noon! Where are these people who are pulling in (I refuse to say earning) six figures? Do they go to work or just collect your tax dollars? Nepotism abounds. If the AG wants to look into corruption on LI, there are few better (maybe the special districts) places to start than TOB. It makes MAFIA activity look like child's play.
