It's true, him and his wife re-registered as Dems recently. And I feel sorry for the Democratic party.

He seemed like he he was very strong in his beliefs. I guess it was true that he was only in it for himself. Too bad. I guess he was just like the people he claimed to be fighting against. Be careful of the so called reformers.

Yep! Houser and the top three people of his grassroots camapign for reform left the GOP, and there are more GOPers to follow so watch the papers. Houser has not abandoned his quest for "reform" and I think it's stronger now. He merely switched horses and is currently and quietly helping Dem. candidate Jim Dahroug in his race agianst Trunzo.

Houser recently spoke in front of the Town Board calling on McGowan to live up to his words on the now famous commercial "#1, always leading the way" telling McGowan to remove barriers to the Council District initiative. Boy, you could have cut the tension with a knife in the Board room when Houser walked in, Petes face turned beet red and Messina looked like he was going passout, the "Toad" shook his head almost as much as W during the first Presidential debate.

Houser et al, will help the Democratic Party very much as they are some of the most honest and hardest workers in Suffolk County today.

This is just great now we have some motivated hard working experienced people involved with the Dem's. The liberal elite may not care for it but hard working Dem's who need a boost in the arm are happy. This county will stay Dem for a long time to come.

Honest and hard working? Doesn't it bother any Dems that Houser represented himself as "Joe Republican" and then when he couldn't get his way he took his ball and went home. Now he's pledged his allegiance to the Dems. What happens when he is not allowed to cut the line? Dems please respond.

How didn't Houser get his way, it seems he did what he thought was right and lots of folks agreed?

The trouble with you (& Brookhaven) Republicans is you are all so anal retentive and way too eager to brown nose. You believe speaking up is a no-no and bucking a stupid Party Boss, a mortal error.

I was at the last Ronkonkoma Rep Club meeting, and this is what happened. Houser opened the meeting as always and he went through Parlimentary Procedures, when he got to New Business he smiled and announced he and his wife, Connie had changed thr Partys and he was leaving the Club, he thanked members, sid some pleasantries, wished us luck then turned the meeting over to the Joe Mirsko (Vice President), the Houser's left.

As soon as Charlie left, the Valentino's followed , many younger members already had quit when they heard Charlie was leaving the Club. Then Frank Tantone who is Planning Board Chirman, got up, announced "we are tossing club by-laws" , cancelled any thoughts of a club elections and declared Hank Brand , who's only come to 2 meeting over the last year, as the new President. Brand and Tantone are big time McGowan marianettes. Tantone announced to whoever was left in the room (a handful of old dinosaurs and me) "when I become Town Supervisor in a couple of years everyone who supports me in this room will get a Town job, and next month we are going to have a Pizza Party for all our winning candidates!" What a croc!

I have been a Republican for more than 50 years and this is the most disgusting display I ever saw. I'm quitting this Club too now and I might even change my Party too (not sure yet!). This Club will flounder and crash very quickly now. I don't want to be associated with people like Tantone or Brand, they are shameless and self serving, cling-ons.

I too was at the meeting where Houser resigned. You are a liar. Tantone never said anything about bng Supervisor-how ridiculous. He ran and lost twice for legislator. I doesn't consider himself a candidate anymore. Actually, I will agree that Houser handled his departure well. However, you are bng unfair because Tantone actually thanked Houser for the "professional" way he (Houser) resigned. After Houser left, Tantone spoke about moving on, and surprisingly said nothing negative about Houser. Why is everyone who opposes Houser a Republican ass kisser, and immediately called names? Why can't they just oppose your point of view? Isn't the freedom to disagree a basic platform of the Houser Camp?
