The former Senator has no business telling President Bush
to dump Dick Cheney from the ticket. Cheney is more politically astute and honest than D'Amato ever could be.
D'Amato should stay in his new Long Beach digs and take long walks along the beach reading the chapter
"How I Screwed New York" co-authored with George E. Pataki in Politics for Dummies.

Al Damato is a self-serving jerk. If he had any balls at all, he would see to it that the Nassau GOP was fixed.

His brother Armand, is no slouch in the self-absorbtion department ther.
The best was when Al made fun of Judge ITO on the Imus show and had to go to the Senate floor to apologize....

He's a friend of Rudy, who's a friend of Placa, who knows the Bishop who's a pal of Dillon, who's chummy with Catterson. They all do the Lord's work here on LI.

Al recently went to Hempstead to enlist in the
Army Reserves so he can go to Iraq and take
over the operations of Halliburton's subsidiary,
KKR.

LET,S all be honest. Al was a good senator, not excellent but performed well for the people. Yes, he can be arrogant at times and sometimes his business dealings may be questionable. But he did serve the people well.
However, I do think the previous postings are a little harsh and may not be fair.

Al D'Amato turned bng a local pol into bng a major player in NYS, and in great part, by luck, bng in the right place at the right time and let's not underestimate the man's intelligence. Maybe not an "intellectual" in the purest sense of the word, but there are different types of intelligence. He used and is using his talents to the highest degree. DO YOU MAKE $500,000.00 for ONE phone call to the MTA chief?? The FONZ did. And it was declared LEGAL. And, there are other phone calls and fees we have no idea about! Ya gotta give the arrogant s.o.b. credit.

Why are he and his brother getting in local politics like
the issue of suffolk county leadership and the races in
Huntington?
From what I see, Al is conspicuousl;y absent from ther GOP convention. Not that I would expect him to be a headliner or anything, but the thing IS in NYC and he hasn't gotten even a brief second of face time. He isn't even seen when the camera pans the NYS delegation for god's sake.

So thats why he is having meetings about who is running in Huntington next year..............
Its all about fleecing the county. Al needs Huntington to get control of the County Leadership. Once that happens, Al will steal everthing that is not nailed down.

XYZ - Please help me understand. I find it very disturbing that an ex senator who lives in Nassau is involved in our Town party......and involved to the point of candidate selection.......I hope that that could get out to the people of Huntington so that they can really see that nothing has changed with Smoke filled Rooms- except that no one smokes.........How dare we critisize the dems when this is - and it is - going on in our Town party...........My God, what an oportunity for a maverick to blow the lid off on this.....
Al's cousin Mike Deluca?

Mike DeLoo is Al's NEPHEW; which implies a sort of generational subservience to the elder; a contemporary, no.
If ever there was to be movies made about Dear Al's exploits as chumpmaker
(I don't see any "kings" he produced, do you?),
one of them would have be tittled
"I Made a Reluctant Mayor A Governor" which is the G. Patacky story that Al's sooo fond of telling anyone (yawn) within earshot who has to listen (is it THAT late already?).
My dream is to cast Don Knotts (as G.Patacky) reprising his role as the reluctant astronaut who basically just sat there while the machine pulled all the strings and pushed all the buttons around him.
I wonder what kind of alchemy (you know, making gold out of ordinary earth elements) ol' Al might be working in Huntington.
Hmmm....
