STEPHEN MOORE, PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB FOR GROWTH HAS BALBONI ON HIS RADAR SCREEN. HE STATED IN THE NEW YORK TIMES ON APRIL 7 "THE SINS OF THE REPUBLICAN MAJORITY WERE GRIEVOUS, AND WE FEEL LIKE IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THESE BENEDICT ARNOLD REPUBLICANS" Lets see how mike handles this national group.

I guess that Mike was concerned enough to use his influence to have 60+ postings removed. I guess he did not want his Albany types to see there is a crack in his republican armor.

Mikey, me boy, please do all of us in Mineola and go back to your law practice, move back to the Village of your youth, Garden City, and give someone else a chance to do the right thing for your poor cousins on the other side of the tracks here in Mineola.

You used us to get where you are, and once you slid into Mike Tully's place, you turned your back on those who made it all possible.

You really are a user, and a loser.

Nick has a bright future if he plays his cards right with the party. I believe is is much better suited for the Town Board. Instead of blowing him self up politically with what would end up bng one of the most high profile races in a long time, in the end he would lose the primary and the people he would need to play on the town stage. Could he do any worse than Previdi/balboni/colbert/ferrera/marony? he has an impressive record one that you could draw sharp contrasts with the democrats (no tax increases and leaner gov't) a true republican philosophy and the proven ability to fight it out during the election. Republicans are not going to win bng Kaiman light! The choice has to be very very clear to the voters and Capozzi matches up very well in this regard, and we must not give up because of the enrollment numbers just look at 12 years of control of the City of New York, and may end up bng 16 ! We need people with fight in them to go to the town board and expose them every time they screw the taxpayer. Think about it.

amen rh you are right. It looks to me that cavalaro is well intentioned, knowledgeable, committed but he needs good top lieutenants people with political experience, hungry, and out for blood. He clearly has a tough job one that people are not lining up for so he deserves lots of credit for taking on such a difficult role. He is not without his accomplishments, districts for one. raising money and keeping the mechanics in place is a big job all by itself he needs operatives and dirty political tricksters if he ever is going to close the deal. clean elections equal defeat and that will not due anymore. Somebody please read this and get on board early and help this guy out. long beach is out from the cold can it be north hempstaeds turn next.

did you ever wonder about the press conferences with May and Mike? Did you ever wonder about why Mike was a no show with the O'Connell for Supervisor race. Did you ever wonder why Mike and Roger Corbin are so buddy-buddy. Did you ever why Mike is a no-show just about everywhere in Mineola (except if it a fudraiser or the Guv is in town). Hmm. Maybe he does need a wake-up call.

sucking up to corbin will net balboni ZERO VOTES in a general election. you can hand out all the member items you want (at the expense of your real supporters) to the castle and the voters in that nghborhood will put it right up your *ss when will he learn or does he need a lesson? It was a sin what he did to o'connell too. Maureen represents the future of our party and he really let her and us down when is enough is enough

Balboni has the A G spot locked up so this seat will be in play people. Who is H Q considering; Nicolello, O'Connell, Donna Ferrera, if Capozzi wants in he going to have a big fight on his hands. With Spitzer in line for Gov. former North Hempstead councilman James O'Conner would be a great choice. He is exceptionally bright and good on the trail. Mondello could also make up for the County Exec debacle. Nicholas Capozzi should set his sights a little lower first and Plandome Rd. may be calling.

You want Capozzi back off
04-19-2004, 04:30 PM
Capozzi is an outsider both with the GOP & the N.H. Dems. he has built a Strong coalition and is truly the sharpest mayor on the western north shore has only prospered under Nick's leadership. He can over come some of the most hardened opponents and has a good sense of what the PEOPLE WANT, he would win on a three way race for almost any office. His PIC Party in has rolled over anyone that has gotten in thr way, he does the people's work, he does it right and works hard to win over new supporters.

He is a strong manager and excels in it, hands on and at any time can be seen picking up paper off the street and helping as much as he can. He has built great relationships with the clergy of all faiths, out spoken on the county level for the betterment of his residents, most of all he gets them out on election day. He has been smart not to take sides of ther of the major parties so he works well with both sides, he claims he was a senatorial candidate in the 2ed district in N.J. which he did well in a district that was 8 to 1 dem.s.s.
Please Mr mayor sit back your a shoe in for reelection in and two years is still far off. I think he's beginning to out grow this little Village, weather HQ notices him or not he will make a formidable candidate under any banner. NO new Taxes for six years and improved services and the property values soaring. 15 years ago had the lowest median income of any village in Nassau Co. After six years of Nicks PIC Party, the village in in the upper 25% .So Mike, Maureen, and everyone else including Kaiman or Newberger, or Pollack, he is still fairly young for this game but not young enough that he does not have a good track record and good common sense. He listens as well as speaks, and it's not an act, he delivers on promises, and he can raise money if he needs to last time he ran for mayor 25,000 was spent by his group and the other side spent just as much. He is a good manager, and we need more of these. If Cavallaro is smart he'd call on him to run some of the GOP campaigns, maybe they will win one.Wake up boys you might have a fighter on your hands, would he run on a third line quite possible because the Rep's in N.H. would not know a good candidate if they came from heaven

As you have said, Mayor Capozzi has kept his distance from the GOP in the past. That is not unusual for a Village official to do, many of whom rightly or wrongly feel that it is more efective for them as local officials to be somewhat distant from the major parties.

However, I do not see any reason that the GOP would not welcome him w/ open arms if he was looking to get more involved. In fact, I am certain he would be a very viable candidate in the event he wanted to run for the Town Board, Suipervisor or some other office.

He needs to make up his mind and decide if he wants to "go all in". He knows how to get in touch w/ the powers that be so that he can come into the tent. I am sure that they are anxious to welcome a guy with his record and level of community acceptance in.

The first lit drop was done last week and Capozzi's flier very professionally done out lined 70 reasons to vote his PIC team in again, as far as any other races he is very involved with the Village, thank Heaven because if rumors are correct the losing Justice Party found another real loser, I guess we the people will be in for another mud slinging fist fight. They are light wghts compared to mayor Capozzi the lit. drop named 70 reasons to vote for the PIC party, they were solid improvements made in the Village that no one can dispute, the flier closed in saying if 70 reasons are not enough more reasons will be on thr way soon. Capozzi is a great closer, He's smart, the Balboni seat will open sometime soon and that is the time to move. I predict he'll have another land slide, people in this village see the changes and our property values are confirming them.
You get a pass this time Mike, make the best of it.

You left out Dogs, Cats, Trees, and the L.I. Sound, but what you also left out is he loves himself more, all of a sudden he's going to show up in Port Washington, maybe he does read these postings, to little too late, why not go to great Neck or even better albany where you belong. are you his wife or just a teenybopper,

Too bad it's a little too late but I think he'll get a pass this time, word has it he's reached out to the boy's from Port washington, to cool it. This will be very interesting to see if gerry terry and Joey Boy put up a viable candidate, I'm taking bets they will find a slump. Mike could be beat in his oen party if it's right and for sure on monor lines.

Are you telling me that the Republican voters deem who to vote for by whom a mayor elects to have as a Village Lawyer? Too bad your out of touch, this Republican votes for the person, you forget that Villages in Nassau are not run by the D's or the R's and thank heaven they are not. I seem to believe that we had two Republican law firms in the beginning that did little or nothing for the Village except to Bill, Bill, Bill. Wake up people and lets embrace political stars not scare them away. We have one of the Best mayors on the North Shore and he's not 80. Capozzi knows how to treat people and that is why he's liked by so many and hated by the have not's. Perhaps you need to go back and read the position paper about the big tent.

Mike Baloney and Dave Mcdonough are both left wing Republican opportunists who say one thing and who vote the other way to play to extreme special interest groups. Damn the party and the conservatives.

Run a primary and purge these RINOs. I am waiting for both to endorse Homosexual marriage. It will not be a surprise.

All tis BS about Cappozzi is the brainchild of Gerard Terry, long-time Village Attny to and Mayor Cappozzi. Terry thinks he's smarter than EVERYONE else, and thinks it'd be great to have a trojian horse inside the GOP.

But, he ain't foolin anyone.

He thinks that since he can't get his guy Craig johnson to make a run (even as a trial balloon for when Mikie is out of the way) that he will try to coax cappozzi to do so. However, hopefully, Cappozzi is too smart for that, to be a dupe for a dope. Terry has the penchant for trying to be too smart for his own good. The Republicans are not that stupid. Cappozzi better get used to bng the Mayor of , or set his sights a little bit lower. Otherwise, I'm sure the GOP will take a pass.

Newsdays Rick Brand
05-24-2004, 06:46 PM
At l Newsday is purporting to try and be percved in a more neutral light and I guess that's just about time - about time for an ass whoopping in 6 months in which case there won't be anybody left for Newsday to pull it's coddle and hug nonsense on. Rick Brand gives a luke warm encouragement to Balboni while ever so subtly seeming to nudge Suozzi, but in the end, apparently, he seems to think Suozzi's big boy bashing scheme is going to work. It seems Suozzi has become aligned with the conservative party on both state and local levels, having alienated his own party members already. It wouldn't be surprising if King Tom switches his party affiliation so he can play on both sides of the fence, picking up mavericks along the way and picking and clucking himself into another longshot victory. It'll be interesting to watch, with once again, the republicans sitting on thr hands waiting for the nursing home bed to open up.

You're mostly accurate
06-19-2004, 12:47 PM
No way. Bng a "Conservative Democrat," if he can pull this off, can be a very powerful marketing tool with New York voters, because in the general election you can pick up traditional Democratic voters, as well as "Reagan Democrats," Jewish, and other suburban groups. Suozzi could have been a juggernaut. He blew it with his terrible government, idiot appointments, numerous scandals, and bull crap.

If Suozzi would have eliminated the nonsense, cleaned out the garbage, performed the work of government, and did the work of the people of Nassau, he could have sailed into the Governor's Office. Unfortunately, Suozzi does not possess the character, leadership skills, and ability to have achieved this. It is sad really. Such a young man and such a failure.
