Any predictions on the roll call for Democratic Candidate at the convention? Rumor has it Foley won't go through with it. Down to basically Bishop and Fisher. Gross has been surprisingly impressive but isn't up on local issues enough.

I've been very impressed by Gross so far. We'll have to see how her drives in the next month fare. I know she's been remarkably successful tapping into a youth movement.

I've been talking with leaders, and we think its gonna be Bishop. Vivian may be too liberal for the district.
Gross is very impressive, BUT shouldn't jump right into Congress. Starting on the Town Board in Riverhead or to the Co. Legislature would be wonderful. Gross has a bright future ahead of her.

She (Gross) really has been impressive and I hope she sticks to local politics as she could have a very bright future. As for Fisher she is too liberal and too abrassive. Bishop has shown himself to be far and away the better candidate.

I disagree with the assumption that someone like Felicia Gross should work her way up from the town level.
I live in Riverhead and that's not an option here for someone like her.
If you are a non-GOPer and under 40 and your family hasn't been here for 10 generations, you have no chance at the local level in the North Fork towns, no matter how many degrees you have. In my 1st AD run this year, though, I hope to be a uniting force among the various progressive political groups here.
But in a larger race, where the boundaries stretch across several towns, and into the bigger western towns, your family lineage is much less important. It's the larger issues that matter -- abortion, capital punishment, welfare, etc.
However, Congress IS shooting pretty high in her case, considering the lack of connections and experience. Maybe she could fill in in the Lavalle state senate race, as the Dems don't have a candidate yet. A good proving ground.

You know, your right, there is no Dem. State Senate Candidate yet for the 1st SD...
And instead of putting a sacrificial lamb in there as usual, Felicia Gross would be a credible candidate...BUT, it may be kinda late bng that a candidate will be name on Mon. however, Gross could primary?

Terrific idea having Felicia run for State Senate. It would be good for both her and the Party. She may not win but could really make a mark and get to know local politics better. She would be a great candidate.

If she and the party bosses talked today, she would probably get the SD nod Monday. It's really up in the air. You Dems should send the boss an e-mail and cc Gross.

Although Felicia did not garner much support, I think she should stay active. I like her ideas and vision and the way she presented herself, she was in uphill battle from the start and I feel she has a future given some time.
Unfortunatley all the end state seats are already chosen..but you never know..I thought she would have gotten more support from Riverhead town..that surprised me.
The main thing is we all need to get behind Tim Bishop and look for Felicia to continue to get her name out to the public. Maybe a county Legislature seat when it comes up next?

Should go Republican.

The St. Senate seats here will remain Republican.
As for Ms. Gross, I sincerely hopes she remains active and run for a local seat. She has great ideas and such. I hope the little support she got from the convention doesn't damper future races for her.
I do agree that we must rally behind Tim Bishop. He is the nominee and we can't afford a primary. Vivian should back off and save herself for other races next year. County Executive? Or Town Supervisor? There's opportunity out there for her.
