Johnson went through his campaign versus O'Donnell saying that although he supported the death penalty in theory he would not vote for a broader bill to bring it back to New York. Today, he voted for the general bill to rnstate the death penalty (i.e. not only cops) without any provision to protect the innocent, ... 6 people in the last 13 months, including 5 from Long Island, have been found innocent in NY jails, one spent 18 years there until DNA proved he was innocent.
Most NYrs support life w/o parole over the d/p, which actually costs more.. we've paid 20 million per year for 10 yrs. without an execution.
especially, more democrats support life w/o parole. What does he get by doing this? If he supports the cop-killer bill, what need is there for him to go the extra step to demand the death penalty(without innocence provisions)
It aggravates me very much to see this outright lying.

Craig Johnson was a useless panty waste here, working off his Mother's name, and he's completely useless upstate. The only good thing about him bng a State Senator? He's not a Legislator here anymore.

The death penalty has been used as a "get tough" on crime rallying cry, but it does nothing real to help cops stop crime or protect them. Just a lot of hot air that makes people feel angry. I guess he needs to feel like he can rally the angry masses around him. Southern states have the highest rate of police homicide, and they have the death penalty. I'd take the 20 million and give it to raise the starting salaries of the NYDP. The 30 grand they make is shameful.

Mrs. John Edwards

Don't vote for my husband. I wanna run away with Craig Johnson. His views mirror mine. Read this excerpt from Newsday and see why I wanna have Craig Johnson's illegitimate baby.

Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards, kicked off San Francisco's annual gay pride parade Sunday by splitting with her husband over support for legalized gay marriage.

"I don't know why someone else's marriage has anything to do with me," Mrs. Edwards said at a news conference before the parade started. "I'm completely comfortable with gay marriage."

She made the remark almost offhandedly in answering a question from reporters after she delivered a standard campaign stump speech during a breakfast hosted by the Alice B. Toklas Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Democratic Club, an influential San Francisco political organization. California's presidential primary is Feb. 5, one of the earliest contests in the nation.

She conceded her support puts her at odds with her husband, a former senator from North Carolina who she said supports civil unions among gay couples -- but not same-sex marriages.

"John has been pretty clear about it, that he is very conflicted," she said. "He has a deeply held belief against any form of discrimination, but that's up against his bng raised in the 1950s in a rural southern town."
