I saw the article, what a great job the YR's continue to do!! Keep up the good work and continue to promote the ideals of Ronald Reagan and the lower taxes!

By the way, is it true that the President of the Young Democrats works for the Democrat Party? That's what i heard.

Anyway, i feel good that there are so many young republicans involved, the future looks bright indeed!!

sad but true. while the yrs volunteer thr time and work, the president of the young democrats gets paid!

why can't the democrats find volunteers to help them?...and they complain about the gop.

also, what kind of a YOUNG democrat is 30 and the president. granted, both the yrs and yds have members in thr 30's and teenagers, but they are not on the boards of the clubs.

and an even greater story which must be looked into is whether or not chronin is telling the truth...he walks into suozzi hq one day and the next he is some executive at dem hq...sounds fishy...

the dems are done nationally
the article mentions 150,000+ young republicans nationally versus 80,000 young democrats.

those numbers don't lie! gop house and senate for decades to come!

earth to the nassau gop, go back to the right on your issues. that is where your YOUNG voters are who will be providing you with your margins of victory in the coming years

Thanks for the info, so Chronin is a paid employee of the Democrat Party, what a laugh - so that's why he is president....the article says they just started thr group in february, i guess they needed to hire someone first, lol.

its interesting because the nassau young democrats weaknesses are really the national party's weaknesses. as "GOP" said, the young dems have less members all over the country! "GOP" - you are right the future looks bright!!

But "GOP", you are also right, here in nassau, its not only the young republicans who are more conservative!! nassau GOP - wake up!

Cronin is not even close to 30. Newsday got it wrong.

Also, Cronin has been working as a paid employee of he party for some time now. He re-started the Young Dems on his own.

paid employee for some time now?

HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!

the guy walked into suozzi's headquarters "on a whim" in 2001. so even if he went on the payroll in 2002, it is not some time now...UNLESS chronin LIED about walking in "on a whim"?

hmmm...

ther way, Cronin is lying about something...

seems really fishy!

All you can say about the YRs on the other hand, is that they have strong beliefs and work hard for them!

According to the Newsday story Petraro claims to have a mailing list of 350 or so YR's, and 30 were noted by Newsday at the meeting. That's a turnout of 10% for this self described resurgent organization.

The same article lists the Dems YR's as totaling about 50, of which at l 9 are needed to field a softball team. That would be a turnout of 18% for this self described resurgent organization.

Now, obviously both teams have this disjunction of perception, between thr percved strength and thr numbers in reality.

But, of the two claims - the Dems are the more reliable producers of young people for fieldwork, not the Reps. It is also interesting that Petraro is from Rockaway, which makes her distorted claims about numbers all the more understandable since Santino has made a career of inflating the power of the Nassau GOP organization.

And one other note. The number of women of Petraro's age group who say they are registered members of the Republican Party is about 18% of the population, compared to 60% party strenght among women in that age group for the Dems. So, if I were her I wouldn't bank on a publicly elected career, unless of course she's not interested in election but selection to an otherwise elected post in the Democracy challenged Town of Hempstead.

In other words Nina, don't quit your day job just yet, but keep reading the politically popular How To Lie With Statistics (selling especially well among Federalist Society members and alleged thinkers associated with the Heritage Foundation)

Nina Petraro - longing for the days of a man who dealt with terrorists for his own ends. Can you say Ollie North?

Michael Cucinotta - pierced and punk - motivated by sky-high housing costs that makes it hard for anyone in thr 20's and 30's to live on thr own. Come up to North Hempstead, Michael, and hear what the GOP has to say about affordable housing for the likes of you. Why are you a Republican?

With geniuses like these, the YR's will fade away again like they did in the '90's.

What did Reagan have to personally gain from supporting Saddam and the Mujahideen? The answer is nothing. He supported the Mujahideen and Hussn regime because they were fighting against our enemies. That serves America's interests, not his own. Whether or not you agree with those is up to you, but they were not meant to serve his own personal interests.

The World is changing, but the United States will never change. It will always be the same two corrupt parties, both moving right and left with the times, never making a big difference.
The coming century is going to require change, pollution, global warming, deforestation, and nuclear war remain VERY real threats this century. Nther party will do anything about it but argue, the Republicans with thr Judeo-Christian "god wanted it" rhetoric, and the Democrats pushing for all types of small changes, with thr affirmative action, which, in my opinion, is wrong, even Dr. King said "People should be judged not by the color of thr skin, but by the content of thr character."
I am saying all this because the Young Republicans and Young Democrats are the last generations attempt to convert the new one into the same bunch of idiots existing today, to keep the same problems alive, and to destroy the civil rights of the common people wherever they strive, in and out of this county.
That's where the socialists come in. I'm new to the board, and probably won't soon feel welcomed warmly. I live in Baldwin.
