i am a republican who is new to town of huntington politics. i am interested in finding out information about the edwards and mcgrath campaigns. does anyone know if ther of these campaigns has a web site? does anyone know if ther campaign is active at this point in time? does anyone have info on the campaign managers?
all I know so far is that edwards was/is a democrat, that mcgrath is a leader in the aoh, and that both are interested in stopping the down-zoning and over-development that is going on in huntington.

The local newspaper will give you a description of what these two candidates are like. They have a large following because of thr truthfulness and outspokeness. The town can not keep going down the path it has been traveling these last 12 years or more.Politics in town has denigrated into Huntington government officials physically attacking and slandering people for thr beliefs.Doesn't sound to Democratic does it.People no longer trusts a local government that continually lies to it's constituents.Money and power have always been apart of the political process but for to long in Huntington this has eroded greatly our quality of life.Subjects that remained hidden from public discourse will now have to be addressed. School districts have to have a greater say in how the town of Huntington uses land and properties. The way the town goes about it's tax assessment of houses and property will have to be closely scrutinized. It will be an exciting election and one that will have a much greater impact on our lives in the town once honest local people are elected.

A lot of words that mean nothing. Assessment is a function of the State of New York. They dictate the rate at which property is assesed. Only full market value assessment would be fair, but it would only be good for a few weeks as the market keeps rising the Town would have to re-assess continually. Allowing the school districts to have a greater say in Govt. would be like having the mouse watch the cheese. Get real!

It seems from the postings that these two are gaining a following. The Honesty & Integrity people seem to have troops out there for them. Also, it seems that there is a great deal of anger toward the current board members. It seems like these two have a chance in September and November. Do they? Any thoughts?

The Towns have the power given to them by the state to assess houses and collect taxes.
