Ridiculous White Kids ruin Levittown once again

Kate Murray has finally realized there are gangs in Levittown.

All Kate has to do is ask Superitendent Herman Sirois why Division Ave HS is so messed up with these dirtbags. The good doctor makes $324,000, let him patrol the hallways :lol:

What I find kind of funny in todays newsday article was that the supposed gang was considered a "wanna be gang". That being said, this probably wasn't even a gang issue, but probably just 4 or 5 kids just messing around with spraypaint at our expense. I live in Levittown. There really isn't a gang issue in Levittown, that's for sure. Although I want to see the tidbits of graffiti removed, this was just a publicity stunt for Kate at election time. Just llok at how long it took for her to act on the graffiti issue. The graffiti has been around Levittown for along time, this is nothing new. You would think Kate would have acted on this issue sooner considering she lives in this town. Every park in Levittown has a little graffiti. While the town parks crew does a great job keeping the parks clean and the grass mowed, the graffiti is hardly ever removed. The park across the street from me has had the same grafitti on the backstop/dugout fencing since early spring. It's been reported to the town, but ignored. That works in the vandals favor, the longer it takes to get removed, the happier they are, and the more pi$$ed of the tax payers are !!!! Time to wake up Kate !!!

As far a Division HS is concerned, that school has always had the same issues. When I graduated HS in '92 the place was a mess then too.

This has been a growing problem for the past 20 years! With so many illegal renters the tax rolls do not properly reflect the fact that illegally converted one family homes that are now multi family dwellings pay the same property taxes as those who prefer to keep their single family dwellings, single family dwellings. The ever shrinking base of single family dweller households is forced to bear the burden of taxes for the slum landlords and their illegal tenants that place a major strain on our resources (graffitti, additional ESL programs in the schools - so Sirosis can hire more crony connected teachers and administrators, parking problems, extra garbage, etc.).

If she and her Republican cronies like Joe "Fat Joey" Mondello really gave a damn about the little guy property tax payers that are struggling to make ends meet, they would go after the absentee landlords that are destroying he quality of life in our town!

The illegal 2 family home issue is out of control here in Levittown. On my street alone, there are 7 out of 22 houses that have illegal apartments. Good luck trying to find parking on the street when you come home from work. Each apartment has 2 tenants, husband & wife or boyfriend & girlfriend, so that means 2 cars extra per house.

Without actually having to go down to Town Hall, what is the best way to report these illegal apartments ? Anyone have a phone number ?

Only two families? You are lucky. I have several homes on my block that have been turned into flop houses for transients. They even use garages as housing units!

Several things that could be done:

1- Since Murray and Company don't give a damn about illegal housing, try contacting Nassau County Harvey Levinson's Office. They seem to be taking a slightly more agressive stand (not to end the illegal multi-dwelling problem, but to tax the landlords at the appropriate rate for renting in single family converted apartment buildings).

2- Contact the US Immigration and Naturalization Service. Many of these sub-standard housing units are occupied by unregistered illegal aliens that work off the books (more loss of tax revenue).

3- Contact the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to file a complaint against the Town of Hempstead for not enforcing its residential zoning laws.

4- Contact Newsday. They occasionaly show some tepid interest in stories pertaining to the "changing face of our suburbs." At the minimum they can embarass the Crony Brigade at Town Hall if the article is printed before election day. That is the only time of the year that they might get embarrased at their inactivity on this matter.

5- Lastly, and sadly, call it quits and relocate out of this area if at all possible. Things can only get worse.

If Mr. Suozzi gave a crap at all about this county, he would end his absenteeism and return to Nassau. He would then allow the police department to bring in some guys in the 8th pct to END the mischief/ grafitti problems, once and for all. I remember years ago that the 8th pct was extremely responsive to the needs in the community. They'd get guys in here who would hammer kids who would be screwing around, or driving like nuts! I remember when they ended the practice of kids hanging out in Tri-County lot in their cars. They wrote a million tickets!! They are a great group of guys in the 8th pct, who are handcuffed by Mr. Absentia.

Why not actually fix the problem of illegal apartments? BUILD AFFORDABLE HOUSING! For instance: complexes for the single person who can only afford $800 or $900 a month rent, build actual houses or condos that a person can afford. we have lived here all our life, attended school here & work here. I think it is truly sad that one bedroom apartments in houses all over Nassau have to be overpriced ($1000 or more a month.) Where are we supposed to live? It is not so wonderful as you may think. Let's not even discuss the dumps that homeowners say are "apartments". Most single people don't earn enough to purchase a home, do not have funds to have down payments for co-ops & where are the condos? Maybe if you see this from the renter's life, you might understand how difficult it really is.

All these suburban kids like to run around and act like they are from the Ghetto. They would not last one second in the Projects. Their parents are good working people and they run around like fools.

That Temple has always looked like a rundown dump. It's a serious eyesore. Even the metal trim on the outside of the building has been hanging off for years. It's pretty ghetto for a Jewish Temple.

That wouldn't be too bad. At least it would be pretty permanant instead of stores coming and going every few years.
The only problem I would see is that there would be no retail taxes collected from the county which would normally go towards the local schools from retail stores.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but county property, rented or owned by the county, is not taxed by the county or local schools.

Are you sure it is closed down ? If it is closed down now, it still always looked like a rundown dump when it was open even back in the 90's. I doubt it was closed down then too.

The minorities that you see in town are walking or riding stolen bikes down from Spicsville...oops sorry, I mean Hinduville....oops sorry, I mean Hicksville. Unfortunately, you are incorrect about where some of the newcomers live. Many are living in illegal multifamily dwellings in various pockets around L-town. That's why the school district's ESL budget has dramatically increased over the past decade. I have no problem with the newcomers as long as they pay theri taxes and obide by the laws.
