[Freedom fighters]

There is a big difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist. While I do not agree with past IRA tactics, the fact remains that a foreign country used to occupy and terrorize the whole country of Ireland. For example, under English occupation, Irish people could not:

1. Practice their religon (under penalty of death)

2. Speak their own language (under the penalty of death)

3. Own land (in their own country!!)

4. Go to school or otherwise be educated (under penalty of death).

5. Set up for crimes they did not commit.

Presently, a foreign country still occupies part of the country (northern Ireland). Where an ambulance responding to a Catholic neighborhood will take 15-20 minutes to respond (2-5 minutes in protestant neighborhoods), and where there is discrimination in hiring. This is happening NOW, not 20, 50 or 100 years ago, but NOW.

Pete King is a hero for bringing this to the attention of the executive branch (clinton and Bush) and working to bring peace to the area as well as ending these attrocities.

Oh please Dave, compare the Irish to the Latino situation. In King's district you will lose by an even bigger margin.

I'm pretty sure the last thing anyone, especially those Liberals who criticize King on being too tough with passenger profiling and his immigration bill, would call King is a Terrorist Sympathizer. I hope Mejias' strategy gets a little bit better then sending one of his campaign volunteers to spread this message or he is in more trouble then I thought.

The original outset of the IRA had very laudible goals, no questuin they were obressed, no question they dealt with lots of gatbage they should not have. However, their actions speak for themselves. Murderining Civillians is a terrorist act period, thats what it is. Doesn't matter how well intentioned the original goal was, or what they had to go through (which I agree was horrid). their is simply no excuse for orchristrting large attacks on Civillians and that is what the IRA turned into.

Please stop trying to rationalize terrorist killing innocent people because your argument is at the heart of every terrorist group. Every terrorist feels they are oppressed but that does not give them the right to kill innocent bystanders.
