Why is it considered greedy to want to keep what you earn, but not greedy to want the government to take from someone else and give to you ?

I'm not sure I'm with you on the prescription plan, but I agree on others.

I left the Republican Party a number of years ago and now am a registered independent. Voted for Golisano in the last Governor's race. In federal issues, I usually vote for Republicans. Why? The greatest threat to Americans right now is the Democratic Party. They must be made to be a minority party in this country until they come around again to true Democratic Principles.

So yes, they are the lesser of two evils. But what can you do? I like a lot of what Harry Browne and the Libertarians say, but they are stupid. They try for the presidency before getting anything lower. Does anywone think that Harry Browne would get anything accomplished with a Republicrat Congress? He will be out in four years or sooner. So the only choice we have is Repblican or Democrat. Although there is a lot that I don't like about the Republicans, there is a lot I DO like. I can't think of anything I like about the Democrats. So my vote goes to Republican. Yours should, too.

Until the independents and libertarians and others get smart and start working from the bottom up.

Exactly what did you object to? That there is no difference at the state level? Both dems and reps voted to raise taxes and fees and to keep big government. Many reps voted for special gay rights. Please tell me the difference.

Locally, in Nassau County, maybe not at NYU, the democrats are doing a marginally better job at running the county than the republicans. You may not like it, but it is the truth.

A Republican is a NIMBYist, backbiting, selfish, ungrateful curmudgeon who doesn't care how much you tax, just cares whose pocket it flows into. Big government = big patronage and anyone not part of the inner circle is only fit for serfdom. The Constitution is an inconvenience and patriotism the shield with which to ward off unpleasant truths.
