I want to run this by everyone here, to see what you think.

I have noticed how conservatism vs. liberalism seems to mirror a child's relationship with his/her parents.

Conservatism definately has roots in the father archetype. The conservative philosophy seems to be interpretted to mean that the quality of your life depends on your own personal achievements, without much help at all. This may be the reason why that Conservative, Republican condidates feel spending on social programs is ruining the game. After all, why can't people fend for themselves without sapping money from our pockets?

Liberalism seems to stem from the philosophy that all people are interconnected, and that a healthy and happy society comes from everyone bng able to eat, sleep, and get medical care. This certainly (to me) seems like a maternal philosophy. Liberalism also includes tolerance for the ideas of others, and a progressive attitude towards society, "We need to change that? Let's do it!"

My general point is, the difference between liberalism and conservatism seems a lot like the difference between a maternal and paternal philosophy. Maybe it even stems from the Christian/Conservative belief in a VERY paternal seeming God. I do believe that more Christians are Republican than democratic (of course, I can't back that up with evidence at the moment).

It is like this: THE ESSENCE OF LIFE IS STRUGGLE Those who welcome that struggle as a challenge, due to intrinsic thinking patterns(not learned thinking patterns) are what you would call conservatives.

Liberals do not intrinsically welcome the struggle of life in thr thinking patterns. Furthermore, liberals feel jealousy for someone who does welcome the struggle of life.

THE ESSENCE OF LIFE IS STRUGGLE
Those who welcome that struggle are better suited for the process we call life.

Interesting thoughts.

But following that logic, do you think it's wise for conservatives to follow what they've been taught all thr lives, rather than using the knowledge they themselves have learned?

And how are conservatives better at the "struggle". and for that matter, what is the struggle?

Are you saying liberals are too weak to fight? That's a very alpha-male-type attitude. Should the "weak" not deserve to be every bit as fullfilled as the "strong".

It's from Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung, Freud, and others.

You probably have never read them.
