View Full Version : Skateboard Park is officially opened in Levittown

08-17-2006, 06:43 PM
Its on Hempstead Turnpike right in front of the War Memorial where 20 young men congregate every day showing their fine craft
without the use of helmets or kneepads.

Thanks goes to Kate Murray, Gary Hudes and Denny Dunne for allowing this wonderful activity to occur allowing for cars to stop suddenly exiting the Turnpike so not to cause injury to these fine gentlemen or hooligans.

Where are the parents of these AP scholars without helmets.
I know - they're working towards their GED diplomas from Division.

You Fool! Don't you know anything? Those skateboard hooligans have parents getting their GEDs from Northside Elementary School, not Division HS!

Now support the olympic size pool I want to have built at Memorial High School. It will only cost you taxpaying losers several extra million to finance - out of your pockets - ha ha ha.

When I first saw these kids over there, I had the same feelings as you. After seeing them there a few more times, I thought about it a bit. With the exception of not wearing helmets or knee and elbow pads for there own safety. Yeah, skateboarding in the service road is pretty dumb and should be stopped so that they stay on the curb and in the park. After all, they are participating in a sport. Sports keep kids out of trouble.

"With the exception of not wearing helmets or knee and elbow pads for there own safety. " I meant to say in my sentance above that the kids should wear the protective gear.

Since summer is now over and the public pool next to the library is now empty, the pool is now used as part of the skateboard park too.
It won't be long before one of these kids gets hurt and their parents sue the town saying it was their fault.

The skateboard park at Allen Park in Farmingdale was eventually moved out of there. I have often wondered how much money TOBALY spent on it and then ripped it out.

They also spent a fortune on bushes to deaden the noise that the residents were constantly complaining about.

Actually, the skateboard park that we were referring to in Levittown doesn't actually exist, well, not officially anyway. The kids have basically been using a park with benches and curbs for doing stunts on skateboards. In addition, a few hundred feet away is the public pool, that is now empty since the season is over. They have been skateboarding in it ever since.
I wouldn't mind seeing an official skateboard park built in Levittown for these kids to go and hang out and enjoy their sport, but I doubt it would ever happen.

The kids stopped coming because it's always closed. Maybe TOH has an "agreement" with for profit Oil City in Oceanside, in order to keep kids away from the free park in Baldwin.

So what you are trying to say is that if the park closes down due to "lack of interest", the land would be sold to Oil City ?

Levittown is white trash. One step about Hicksville (Downtown Bombay India)

The vagueness of the colorful flyer with his pug Kate Murray
serves as an insult to TOH taxpayers.

Who is the developer, Gary?

I don't give a rat's rear end who is moving in as long as they keep paying their astronomically high school property taxes so I can maintain my outrageous salary and power base in the school district.

TOH is giving business to Oil City Skate Park? Wow, you must be the skater dude supplying bags to the dude who posted above. Go pull another binger. If the kids can get to Oil City and pay to skate in that rat piss stankin park, then they could just as easily get down to Nickerson Beach (a county park) and ride that park for free. Maybe it jsut took a little while for the Baldwin park to catch on? Skateparks have a bad habit of closing after a few years, before they get discovered. Which is why government is now in the business. Only private parks on LI are in Mt. Sinai and Oil City. Biatch.

Hey Gnarly Dude of Awesome Proportions: It's like this Nickalodian Park, Dude, is too far south, like on the Atlantic Ocean, Dude, and like these Little Lopezes are like asking for money to park your wheels to get like access to the skatepark Dude. You dig? No like freebee here in this county playground Dude!

Spicoli, you missed my point. If the kids who normally go to Baldwin can make it to O'side instead, then they can just as easily get to the free Lido park. They wouldn't have to pay a private park. Unless, of course, they wanted to skate at night. You see, Nickerson only lets you skate until about 6 or 7. Oil City stays open well past dark. I've never been to the Baldwin Park personally, but their website says they're only open 2 hours a day during the week in the off season and only 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Either way, all year round it's only open until 5 p.m. That's not very convinient, is it? Skaters are gonna skate no matter what. So why you gotta act like Mr. Hand, dick.
