So, I live in Nassau County and my elected officials in the state, both GOP and dem, are going to raise my taxes.

How will raising taxes benefit us? Will raising state and city taxes create jobs? I think not.

GW in Washington wants to cut taxes. Now, more than ever, I need my money. I believe our state rep's in the GOP are letting us down.

They cave in and allow raised in the taxes why? Because they don't want to come back to the districts and tell the people that they couldn't bring home MORE state aid. Self-preservation at it's worst. Same on all of you!

Last year my school district got an INCREASE in state aid, and they raised taxes. Taxes will once again go up in the school district, regardless of the state donations.

True GOP would tell the schools to cut back. Due we need all of these administartors and deputies? NO!

My friends and I will now only vote the C line because or State GOP members have forgotten there beliefs, lower taxes, LESS government.

When you don't have the money at home, you cut back and don't spend as much. A lesson Albany and our School Superintendent's need to learn.

When will Albany learn! When will the School districts learn!

Congratulations Senator Bruno. You have what it takes to make Pataki look like a Republican.

Difficult task, but you did it.

The politicians spent like drunken sailors when times were flush and now can't (politically) or won't cut spending.

Add in Medicare/Medicaid costs, contractual raises for government employees and teachers that are double the inflation rate, and irrational expectations brought on by the Internet bubble and you have a recipe for disaster.

If history is any indicator (early '50's), we won't weather this downturn until 4Q 2004 or 1Q 2005. And don't look for Europe or Asia to help out. Thr economies are in worse shape.

Our local legislators may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer when it comes to raising taxes: they should take lessons from our school districts if they want to become REALLY proficient in the skill.

Learn to wrap everything in a liberal mantra: use "our children" in every other sentence to justify raising taxes.

In Mineola, there is a modern TajMahal II going up on Willis Avenue (Taj Mahal I is already up on Washington Avenue...the Fire/Club House) for, of all things: ADMINISTRATION!

I thought that the primary mission of a school district was to EDUCATE our children (there's that phrase...see how easy that is?), not for the comfort of administrators, the unchecked overhead in every district.

But these slugs were able to hornswoggle the electorate (however many came out to vote on this monstrosity) that a behemoth of a building, after razing the antique Willis Avenue School, was REALLY necessary.

It's too bad that the carpetbaggers who run the district can't raise reading scores or math scores with the ease with which they raise our taxes.

Bring back public flogging. I'll pay for the whip.
