Maybe they know on the southside of town, but not on the northside. NMS had thr first PTA meeting last night with the "new" principal. One long-time parent tried to tell everyone how her sun was held up at gunpoint, but most were in denial.

Where is the police presence in this town? Where is the communication?

Holy Trinity H.S. on alert after threat

Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville has stepped up its security measures after law enforcement officials notified the school of a potential threat.

Law enforcement officials informed the school of the threat discovered on MySpace.com. The threatened action, according to school officials, was to take place today.

According to a notice posted on the school's Web site, the school plans to limit its entrances to three areas, and students and parents were told that Nassau County police officers will be at each one.

Police declined to reveal details of the threat, saying that there is an ongoing investigation. They confirmed there would be a police presence at the high school.

Law enforcement officials contacted the school's principal yesterday morning to inform him of the threat they uncovered "through communications taking place on MySpace.com," the school notice said.

Since then, administrators from the school and the Diocese of Rockville Centre have been working with investigators to catch the person or persons responsible for the threat, the notice said.

"We do not anticipate that there will be any disruption to the school day aside from some delay in entering the school building," the school memo stated, adding that the increased security was taken "strictly as a precaution."

If a parent decides to keep his child home, the absence will be excused, the school said.

1. 9/11 Committee - came up to thank board and Community for the support. Pointed out that after the ceremony Penso started questioning who was in the memorial and why the one person was not included (answer - family specifically asked not to be included). Penso was annoyed that it was pointed out he was doing these things - went on an upset 20 min speech trying to blame everyone but himself for dragging politics into this.

2. Parents concern - large group of parents came down to talk about rash of incidents on Merrick rd. Wanted to know what was bng done. Police chief (obvious he has no people skills) was testy and went through what was bng done. Parent was complimenting Fuzzwinkle for his work. Talk about meeting they had with police - Penso interjected that he was only Trustee that attended the meeting. Parent pointed out to him that no trustees were invited and it was supposed to be a non political meeting with just police. Parent mentioned that Penso brought down his people with him. Penso said this wasn’t true. Parent called him a liar and said what about the retired cop on Lakeview (Monzert) who attended. Parent pointed out that when she asked Monzert why he came down Monzert said it was because Penso called him and told him to come to meeting. Penso was quite upset at this too.

3. Short presentation by Character Counts – nothing of interest.

4. Public hearing on a proposed condo complex on a street (sorry I forgot name) over by KFC. Proposal was for 10 condos. Nassau County rejected and said how about 5 – lawyer says builder wants to work with village but was looking for maybe 8. A few nghbors got up and don’t want it there. Hearing was tabled for potential changes to plan.

5. Some festival permits were approved - nothing much here.

6. Signing some agreements - nothing of interest

7. A few public hearings on local laws - nothing of interest.

8. Good and Welfare – quite testy at times – Penso group felt like they needed to protect him and bashed 9/11 committee and said whole memorial was Penso’s idea (I guess he is like Al Gore and we will hear he invented the internet next also).
