Dwindling Museum Income Fuels Campaign to Increase Funds

The financial losses of the Cradle of Aviation Museum are enough to motivate one local lawmaker.
Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (Woodbury) is calling on other elected officials and museum associates to generate more visitors and income, she announced on Friday.
Jacobs recently requested for Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola) to expedite a $750,000 federal grant for the museum, which would be used for a World War II Carrier Deck display.
Jacobs has additionally met with Eric Ricioppo, president of the museum, and contacted the museum’s board members, asking them to provide her with a strategic plan regarding funding raising initiatives.
“It is becoming increasingly important that there be a coordinated effort if this wonderful museum is to succeed,” Jacobs said in a statement. “My goal is to save the museum so that our residents can enjoy it for years to come.”
