Trust me, it's not just in Levittown. Try taking a look at the police blotters in local newspapers of surrounding neighborhoods. In the Wantagh/Seaford Citizen for example, it amazes me at how much crap goes on daily. The crime rate is about the same as here in Levittown.

nassau is divided into eight precincts. (pronounced preecints by the police)
the 6th is full of jewish and iranian people. the 2nd is nuveau riche, a few old money people and bayville - what is bayville?
the 3rd has westbury, east westbury, known as new cassel, big shopping and the county seat. the biggest new crime there was committed by their commanding officer.
the 3rd is verrrrrry busy
the 5th has elmont, because nobody else wants it - those cops are also busy and have the most serious crime it is close to the city and close to the real job.
the 4th has inwood and atlantic beach - what a combo
the 1st has merrick and roosevelt - guess which town keeps them busier - i bet they would rather answer a call in roosevelt.
the 7th - boats and mentally ill and excentric old folks and uppity types that busy themselves one upping the neighbors.
and then there is the 8th./ beautiful downtown Levittown - do you really think the cops there would rather work elsewhere?

True, but unfortunately it's the school taxes that kill us here in Levittown. I have a basic Levitt Ranch w/ no extensions and a carport, 60' x 100' lot, my school taxes are $5300 and my Town taxes are $2000 which adds up to $8300 a year, and that's with the bs star discount.

How many times have you grieved your taxes - I think you are overpaying. Check the Nassau County Web Site. Look at the taxes your neighbors are paying = do something to help yourself.

Just to clarify, I doubt your town tax is $2000. What you probably mean is that your General tax is $2000. Your general tax is comprised of both your town tax AND your county tax (as well as your fire department tax).
