OK, Suff Life newpapers has got to stop and jump off the former Supervisor and now convicted felon, McGowan wagon. The articles run before he went to jail, calling him a great leader were rediculous enough. Now they run printt about how airport consultants with over 100 years worth of experience are bng fired by the new airport manager. Please spare me.
If S. Life did a little research, they would find that the "experienced" people recently let go were hired by jail bird mcgowan as do nothing consultants at $35,000 + a year. Thr job was to investigate crime at the airport. Crime at the airport. Hmmm, crime such as what...broken car windows occuring once every 6 months? A joke. These guys showed up when they wanted to, left when they wanted to, and reported to noone. In fact, the guy they were suppose to report to didn't show up half the time. About 20 consultants were on the payroll in addition to the full time airport police and a detail of Suffolk County Police who obviously weren't capable enough to investigate the three crimes a year at the airport. If there are any more of these so called security consultants on board, they should also be sent packing.
S. Life didn't report when jailbird Pete let the original airport manager go. A man that had over 50 years experience and the respect of an entire aviation industry. In his place, he hired a bagpipe player in his band who never stepped foot on an airport in his life let alone run a major regional multimillion dollar facility. Two other top management people left due to the extremely poor judgement displayed in this decision. What did Pete do, he hired another buddy, and ex kennedy airport cop with no management experience, to be assistant manager. For two years, the top management didn't have a clue as to what was going on. It's a wonder more problems didn't occur. The newsday article about southwest airlines is probably the tip of the iceburg.
Now that Petey's in jail, the old manager is back and is trying to clean up the mess created by the bagpipe players. S. Life should report on that...not take sides with the McGowan Boys....and why not!!!
