As a long time volunteer fireman, I was disappointed when Assemblyman Wertz parked in front of a fire hydrant in Smithtown and had the ticket dismissed.

He should have known better and the system should not have been abused. However, after speaking to a Babylon Village employee the other day, that incident pales.

I was told that Two Babylon Town employees, Bob Strickoff and a gal name Tracy live close to Main Street and Deer Park Avenue in Babylon Village. Thay have amassed thousands of dollars in fines on both private and official vehicles. A visit from Supervisor Bellone to our Mayor has made those tickets "go away". Anyone receiving a parking ticket in Babylon Village should have an audit of ALL TICKETS performed prior to paying their ticket.

If this were true, Suffolk Life or Newsday would be on top of it. I doubt there is anything to it!

Sounds like some jealous people out there. There were never any tickets issued to either of those persons!

I was surfing through these postings, and I find this one interesting. If this is true, and the Babylon Village and Babylon Town officials are covering this up, we are in bigger trouble than I thought!

That town is making so much money for Bellone to stuff his face with. It is so sickening that a police officer their won't stop and help you to shine a light in the dark while you change a tire, but will give you a ticket if you take to long.

I know this is an old one, but someone questioned whether or not it happened ( the Wertz ticket ) ? It did - and he arranged to have the fire marshal who gave him the ticket fired. The marshal sued the town and won a settlement. It cost Smithtown taxpayers a bundle - in addition to the $75 Wertz didn't have to pay. It was all covered in Suffolk Life, Newsday, Fox News and the various local papers. Wertz is a crook and a slug - as is the head of Smithtown's Public Safety Dept.
