How come in Nassau, the deputy sheriffs are begging for Binding Arbitration, but in Suffolk the corrections officers union will not accept mediation or binding arbitration? The union even got Albany to change the law so that this union is the only one in the state to have binding arbitration? If arbitration is supposed to be such a winning hand for the CO's why won't they take it?
Unless the SCCOA president doesn't want to have the settlement done before next years elections?

Apparently the way the CO union is going about thr business is getting under Levy's skin. Levy has an in with those arbitrators or something like that otherwise why would he want the CO's to go to arbitration as desperately as it appears he does? He even has his cronies writing crap on this webpage to try to make people think a certain way. Personally I think the way Levy and Demarco were in cahoots for the sake of HIS election is an embarassment to free thinking men. So Levy can have every last one of his boys come on here and write whatever they want about the CO president election , I'm not buying it, I prefer someone actually putting up a fight for me instead of taking it up the ass. If we lose , at l we could hold our heads up, but I dont think it will pan out nearly as badly as the Deps contract. They shouldve given those guys a lifetime supply of Preparation H with thr contract because the screwing they just took is gonna last a lifetime. LITERALLY !!!

It is time for us C/O's to call Vito and tell him to stop playing games and get us a contract. Let's go to arbitration and get our contract done. With O/T fading away I need a raise now. I heard from a board member that the county was willing to pick another mediator because Vito didn't like the one that was chosen but Vito still won't budge. What is the excuse now Vito? Get it done or resign and let guyts like Kurt and Matt take over.

Listen here you simpleton , after YOU call Vito , come back and tell us what he said . Youre such a CO , let's see, maybe we get someone to do the dirty work and then blame others ---- YOU CALL HIM !!!!! and then let us know how you made out Champ.
I don't buy the Vito Party Line - that Demarco was in bed with Levy. If anything Demarco got hosed along with his old buddies the Deps. Vito says the county won't come to an agreement, well the next step is mediation, then if it cant be settled, arbitration. There aren't door # 4 or # 5, those three are it fellas: agreement, mediation, OR -arbitration. And D'A D'A D'A D'A DATS ALL FOLKS.
I know we have a Mickey Mouse union Prez, but Mickey quotes are hard to find so I went with the Porky the Pig ending. It's ok to use porky - well if you've seen Vito lately you would know what I mean.
Stop the BS Vito, just get me my contract !

I agree - settle NOW.

EVERYBODY STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!
I DON'T CARE IF YOUR FOR VITO OR AGAINST HIM.........IF YOUR A C/O YOU HAVE TO GET BEHIND THE UNION RIGHT NOW AND SUPPORT THEM. AS FAR AS VITO FIGHTING FOR OUR CONTRACT (I DIS-AGRRE WITH HIM MOST OF THE TIME) HE IS DOING THE RIGHT THING NOW. WE DON'T WANT TO GET SCREWED IN ARBITRATION LIKE THE DEPS DID.....................SUPPORT YOUR UNION

Hey, that's pretty funny, but since your memory is not as sharp as your wit I'll remind you that most 'junior-jacks' never voted in zeroes on a tendered contract, unlike some old-timers like yourself once did.
Don't worry guy, that mall job you quit to become a C/O will be there when you retire, I guarantee it.

Didn't Suffolk just announce a deal with the college faculty? And the deputies? And AME??? Seems like Levy CAN negotiate in good faith. Can Vito say the same thing? Or is he the real problem?
The Deps "deal" was not negotiated. Binding arbitration!

The college faculty most have been smoking something with the students, because thr contract sucked ......they took like 2.75, 2.85 , 2.85 and 3.0..................................i'm sorry I want at l a cost of living raise like levey gave himself. 3.9%

Why dont you ask Vito instead of putting a question like that on here? If you get an answer then post it for all to see here. Better yet, bring that question to the next union meeting, stand up and ask Vito. Uhhhhhhhh---yeah, I didnt think so.
First AME, then DEPS, then CO's, and fianally PD thats how you go about toppling the towers. Thats Stevies plan, maybe since the PD has a copy of the Baranello and Prospect tapes in which Stevie uses the politically crippling NNNNNNNN word. They might get saved, the rest of us have to stand up and not care about I GOT MINES. Its really sad some CO's would let levy defecate on them just to get some scraps. Maybe it's time to stop filling up the boats and put the caddy in the garage and live within your means. Then we can fight for a fair contract and not care about overtime.

amen
The Deps ended up with a lot better contract then AME and the Facility recved. If any C/O's think they will do better they are crazy. The Deps screwed us If anyone thinks Vito is going to do better they are crazy. Lets just settle and get it over with. Levy is going to be re-elected. What are we going to do wait 5-6-7-8 years? Just look what happen to the deps when they went 6 years. Plus the college got the Dep sick time policy for current members starting in like a year. Give us a few 3's and no ot or sick time change for current guys and I will vote yes.

I think that the SCCC Faculty contract was not good for the staff at all. Wage increases are not even /equal to inflation. I also believe they agreed to allow for fewer sick days to be accrued.

I'm thinking it's not my memory that's hurting but yours.
Also, I am curious... what do you suppose an "un-tendered" contract would look like? Maybe five years and six straight zeros? Cool...
"Untendered" is exactly what I had in mind.
SO... uhh... how much are you asking for the boat, anyway?

Yes, fewer to convert at separation by 5 days, and 3 less a year (from 13 to 10 yearly)
Nice job college lady , way to help Levy out in screwing the rest of the county workers. Must be something in it for her since that old relic has enough years for 2 people to retire . She didnt give a damn about her people, she can leave whenever she wants.
Facility does not really care about sick days. Hell they only work 180 days a year anyway. What bothers me is that they accepted the change for current employees. Even the Deps did not get that.
Vito maybe you have not noticed but we are getting further and further behind every other union.
Stop listening to the PBA, they don't care about us. They just want to use us so they don't get hurt. We are the ones getting hurt. How long do you plan on keeping us without a contract? The longer you go the more retro we will lose.

What are you talking about? Before my time the C/O's voted for themselves a contract with zeros in it as well as frozen pay steps for junior jacks at that time. That was what was 'tendered' to them. I'm sorry if my choice of words confused you. For some reason you single out Farm people as wanting a sh|t contract as if we don't have bills to pay.
What is wrong with the air in Riverhead? You guys should just tell Vito to get us a contract and enough of this fighting.
Just because Vito wants to hang out with the PBA guys we can't get a contract? Vito, promised us that when we got Arbitration all would be well. Well it is 8 months later and we are no where near a new contract. Plus, the Sheriff hates us, the County Executive hates us, the Legislature hates us, and the general public never will care for us.
If we have to change the rules for people not on the job yet, that is fine with me. They have the choice to take the job or not. It will not be fair to change the rules for us already on the job.
Vito, bring back the County offer, tell us what it is. We are adults we can handle it. I bet any contract you bring back will get at l 65% of the membership.

You're saying that after all the yrs of Vito's screw ups.
* siding with Tisch and his fools
* Openly slamming Demarco, instead of bng profesional, about his endorsemants.
* Getting us nothing, contracy wise, and pissing off the county,
This man has done nothing for us, name 4 things positive,,I defy you to.
You say if he gets you an ice cream cone, all is forgiven and he will have support of 65% of the mambership again. If it was illegal to type on a computer while your drunk,,you should be arrested.

This trend has to stop!!!! We shouldn't accept anything less than a COLA increase (that would't be a raise, just keeping up). We are all starving, OT down, no contract etc. I would rather we take our chances in arbitration. Lets show some BA**S!!!!!!

ADDING ANOTHER STEP TO GET TO TOP PAY IS BAD ENUF...HAVING ONE SET OF STANDARDS FOR SENIOR OFFICERS AND ONE FOR MORE JUNIOR OFFICERS IS VOTING TO BUST THE UNION  AND YOU POLE SMOKERS CAN'T SAY IT ISN'T
Your posts all suck. Vito sucks. The whole idea of waiting for a contract sucks even more. The fact that some fat bastard who runs to the kitchen every time he hears that the "french fries are done", then comes on here and calls everyone else a pole smoker is just ridiculous. Someone has to stop drinking Vito's kool-aid and stand up for the job, we need a contract. OT is drying up faster than my 90 year old aunt, and the only way to make more $$$$$ is to increase the base pay. VITO - WE NEED OUR CONTRACT NOW !

Vito, since you will not return calls or come around. I will now ask you on here a simple question.
Why wait for a contract? All you are doing is creating more leverage for the County by creating more retro to bargained away.
The new Sheriff is keeping his word and killing OT. He is about the only person on this job that is keeping his word. Vito, you promised us the world to back Tisch. [District Court, Transportation, County Court, Hospitals] Now you can't even get us a contract.
Stop listening to your old friends in Riverhead. They are not the future of this job.
You tried your best. Step down, got to PIB. Let someone else finish.

Vito - stop posing as somebody else on here. The guy who keeps telling Yaphank new guys to shut up - should just shut up himself. I work at Riverhead, I am here for 18 years now, and I want a contract now too. Vito has never given up anything for us, he is in this for VITO and VITO alone. I support the union as an institution, but I DO NOT SUPPORT VITO AT ALL ! So stop trying to browbeat and shame guys into supporting that self centered creep. You can be a Met fan and hate one of the players - well I support the union and hate VITO. If any of you think that somehow we will get better numbers than the Deps you are F*CKING DREAMING. Levy wants to get re - elected, he wants to be able to say he pushed all the unions around, ok so deal with him, make a deal that gives you something else we want in exchange for accepting the raise the Deps got. The Deps raise was good, the only thing that sucked was thr give backs. So a smart person would agree to the same raise with less give backs, that would make our contract better than thrs - right ?

Why did we ask for binding arbitration? How many junkets up to Albany, how many schmoozing dinners did Vito get in order to "win" us the right to use what he now refuses to use?
The times are changing and it is time to change

So you think the Deps raise was good - You're an idiot!
The Federal Government's statistics state that the cost of living rose 2.7% in 2004 and 4.1% in 2005! So what did the Deps get? ABSOLUTLY NOTHING!
Suffolk County's own web site states that the living wage law (making independant contractors that work for the county pay a minimum increase) went up 3.9% and that wages for these contractors employees must rise by 3.9% by July 1, 2006. AND YET THEY TRY TO GIVE THR OWN EMPLOYEES LESS!
If this is what you think is fair, you have Mental Halitosis!
Stevey Levy must pay us a fair wage! Stop screwing the county employees!

So the Nassau COs hired Al Dammato to lobby to get them arbitration. We have it but don't use it. Go figure.
Do Any of you guys who post here actually call over to the union office and voice your opinion??????
After reading this crap over and over again i have come to the conclusion that there are like 5 people who post here and have the same opinon. I work in riverhead, and for the most part people are bng patient and understanding why this has gone on for so long. Yes we have binding arb, BUT the deps fot fecked with it. Wake up people, vito is doing all that he possibly can..
I'm going to say this one more time:
Give me a five year contract and five straight zeros.
And I will not be attending on June 15th.
What many of you are too foolish to realize is that a SH!T contract effects the ultra senior jacks - like VITO for example - far more than it it will ever effect the junior jack, who has many years to recoup lost earnings through alternative means.
What many of you are too foolish to realize is that when I say that I will not be attending on June 15th, it is not my future I am gambling with, but yours...
Pay Attention
06-15-2006, 12:34 AM
Oh silly little Junior Jack,
You are so wrong!
A sh*t contract can never be recouped! Raises are compounded on one another, so zeros are forever! We will never replace what was lost when we took two zeros long ago. We must not accept a sh*t contract. We must fight for a reasonable wage.
Last year's Consumer Price Index went up 4.1%. On Long Island, that is much too low! Expenses are increasing far faster than that. Accepting less than that is losing effective salary. You have to understand that. The PD always gets 4s. This keeps them ahead of the curve. The rest of us get 2s and 3s. We are losing purchasing power every year that rolls.
It absolutely effects all of us - senior and junior alike. We must stick together and not let Levy and his cronies screw us over. The Deps think they got a good deal? They just are not paying attention. They got hosed and everyone else knows it. Perhaps it's just easier to fool yourself, but screwed they were.
That memo sent from Labor Relations is a sure clue that we are getting to them and/or they are attempting to break our union. We must not let them. We must not fail. It would destroy us.
And the Deps new agreement bng settled so fast with the requirement that they drop thr lawsuit just screams of dirty pool. Those guys are going to have hell to pay, and the County is responsible. This is clearly not the fair way to conduct business. Can you not see that?
Stay united. We must.
Whose lawsuit are you talking about? You must mean the one that Fat Vito is helping to fund. Your union leader is more interested in what the deputies are doing than getting you a contract or a 20 year retirement. Do me a favor and tell him to stay out of our business. I am quite happy with the 9% raise I got from the arbitration and I am very happy with the new negotiated contract. Overtime is going down department wide and with the economy a little shaky I am estatic that my raises are locked up.

times are changing. For better or for worse Levy is gonna be tight with the bucks. You think that's gonna change? You dont think taxpayers paying school taxes and teacher salaries and everything else wouldnt LOVE TO SEE LEVY give us all zeroes?
Take the arbitration and get SOMETHING and be happy.
Oh and then....goodbye Vito
"And the Deps new agreement bng settled so fast with the requirement that they drop thr lawsuit just screams of dirty pool. Those guys are going to have hell to pay, and the County is responsible. This is clearly not the fair way to conduct business. Can you not see that?"
Nope I can not see that.
Wtf are you talking about, anyway? This isn't "dirty pool" we're talking about - it's criminal activity.
And let me tell you something: zeros do not compound well, so to suggest that our past zeros have, or could have, compounded into something other than nothing is really pretty foolish. You're crying about something that was never yours to start with.
A) You do not deserve a f***king raise, and B) all this inflationary stuff you're talking about has weakened the tax dollar to such an extent that Levy's dollars probably won't buy him anything. Personally, I feel sorry for these elected "officials" who have to resort to such lowly means to keep the our county afloat.
Because that crook Levy has way to many people in his back pocket. Look how well the deps made out!!!
Well, they voted in one of thr own, he really took good care of them, rumor has it, he is after Levy's job next
Hey all in love is fair...
I think you people need to get real (again.) For all intent and purpose, this proposal represents an admission of guilt. The litigants have Levy by the GONADS.
The County has offered the Deps a contract for 2006 and 2007, in essence in advance, since they have not yet finished negotiatons for Probation, or the COs, for 2004.
But 3.25 and 3.25 just ain't enough. You must consider that the Deps did not recve retro in the first dirty, underhanded, go-round. And all total these awards amount to what, less than 15% for 4 years? Get real...
Did you know that the city guys are turning these jobs down now because they don't believe the starting pay is high enough? At l in there they know thr retirement is much better, thr investment options are much better, and that they will always get FULL retro.
Get real...
You're gonna put him on the wall... I say take him downtown.
If you're not willing to gamble you don't belong in this game.
How about this? The Deputies get a countywide patrol function and in return then they get a raise?
Why should I the taxpayer be bled try for glorified civil process servers and court officers who dont do anything an unarmed, unpaid volunteer cant do.

Yeah, right. You are juist a taxpayer who is concerned about where your tax dollars go. You are not a disgruntled county employee, are you?
I feel sorry for you
I bet the county continues to lower the starting salary just to keep the City guys out. Hiring former NYPD has not been a good thing. The only Dep fired in the last 5 years was City, the guy who got in trouble down south was City, the guys in trouble upstate were City. The guys crying all the time are City.

Let's not get into all that stuff. Whether you like them or not, they are now Deputies. We are all on the same side. We need to stop bng divded amongst ourselves. A deputy is a deputy no matter what job you had before you got here.
