In times such as these, one cannot help but remember the infamous words of the ill-advised.

"Where the hell are all these indians coming from ?"

General Custer

"Where the hell is all this water coming from ?

Captain of the Tittanic

"What the hell was that noise ?

Captain of the Hindenberg

"Where the hell is Eliot Spitzer ?

Thomas R. Suozzi

Isnt it normally third parties that schedule the debates, League of Women Voters, civics, media outlets? Only desperate candidates try to set them up themselves.

Its too early for debates. Everyone knows that.

Suozzi's gov polls

Most appropriate thread. Suozzi's campaign is a one-way trip to nowhere. Every time he opens his mouth, he is increasing a public perception that he is a joke, and that his campaign is nothing to be taken seriously. Meaningwhile, as he burns up his war chest, he continues to make ever increasingly absurd public statements in a desperate effort to get free press, and the vicious circle of implausibility continues. True to form, his campaign is a disaster, the outcome of which is now as unavoidable, as was the sinking of the "unsinkable" once the passengers felt the low rumbling sound of underwater ice, sheering steel plates from the belly of the ship. Except on Suozzi's voyage, the faulty rivets were named Kim Devlin and Jay Jacobs.

It's too easy to blame Kim and Jay. While it is true that both are over their heads trying to run a gubernatorial race, the proverbial buck stops with Suozzi. He kept those two around even when it was clear to anyone that they were out of their element. Kim and Jay's value to Suozzi was to boost his ego and encourage his crazy antics. Suozzi would never have surrounded himself with 'adults' that might have tried to reign him in, guide him, or temper his ego. Anyone that took TRS by the shoulders and shook him but good would have been fired.

The image of Kim Devlin driving a half empty van full of reporters to Fort Ticonderoga only to be turned away is almost pitiful. It's actually funny given Kim's ego and nastiness towards everyone in Nassau County, but if she weren't such a jerk, it would fall under the heading of pitiful.
