WASHINGTON -- Hundreds of anti-Saddam Hussein protestors trudged through the slushy damp weather in Washington Saturday to express strong support for President Bush's policies against the Iraqi dictator. Speakers predicted the imminent demise of Saddam, aimed verbal fire against appeasement anti-Bush demonstrators, blamed the Clinton years for its lax security policies, and presented horror stories from victims of Saddam's torture.

"How long do we have to keep talking about [Saddam's] torture to these demonstrators, carrying the flags of every evil movement in this last century that was represented with their flags of Hate America at that [left-wing] rally?" former Rep. Robert Kenneth Dornan rhetorically asked.

Older anti-appeasement demonstrators were "trying to validate that they were right that Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam should be under communism today," the onetime chairman of military and intelligence-oriented House subcommittees told the pro-U.S. crowd, "They were wrong during Vietnam and they are wrong now."

Dornan said today's pro-Saddam appeasers are "the same kind of people that organized [anti-American demonstrations of the Vietnam War era] all flying the flags of dictatorships of the mini-Hitlers and enemies and signs praising Ho Chi Minh, a mass killer like Saddam Hussein, and enemy flags of the Viet Cong." Visit Newsmax.com for the rest of the story.

The Californian recalled a demonstration he had covered as a TV journalist in 1971 that turned violent as anti-American protestors desecrated the stars and stripes. It was at that rally, he said, where a Vietnam veteran and current "front-runner" for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 Sen. John Kerry, D.-Mass., supposedly "threw his medals at the Capitol" only to acknowledge later he had lied and threw someone else's medals instead.

"Yeah, and we went to a Navy PX [post exchange] and bought new ones," Dornan added with tongue in cheek.

The former congressman was an Air Force combat-ready fighter pilot when Dwight Eisenhower was president.
