The more I read here on this website about how badly you jail guards perform your duties, the more I wonder why you still have a job. These "skids"are people who are in your charge, no? Do we pay you people to terrorize inmates or keep them in jail while keeping them and yourselves safe?

Sometimes people just need to vent. Many of the officers are professional. People forget that inmates are in jail for a reason. They broke the law, in some way shape or form. They have been locked up and taken out of society. They weren't just randomly taken off the street, they committed a crime. They don't change for the better when they are locked up. There are many gang members, rapists, murderers, child molesters, home invaders, drunk drivers, drug dealers, gun smugglers, burgulars, the list goes on. We as officers, make sure they get fed, including special dietsget free medical attention, prescription drugs, free legal help, recreation, protection, visits, commissary, etc. These inmates are scammers, They fight we stop them risking injury. we make sure they get immediate medical attention. They spit on officers and other inmates, they assalut staff, throw bodily fluids. And to top it off The administration only cares about saving money. They are willing to put officers and inmates in danger to save a few bucks. This is what we deal with day in, day out.

You're right, they should be thanking civil service everyday for their jobs. Taxpayers doling out 100K a year for a sworn officer to mop floors, built in OT, car to take home.
