we received a phone (automated) message regarding fights that occurred in the HS today. Quoting the message, numerous fights occurred. Are OUR children SAFE??? Are they going to push this one under the rug. Press assault charges, expel these criminals. Why should we pay top tax dollars for our children to be continually subjected to violence. What will it take, someones child being stabbed, or seriously hurt. You all bitch and moan about all the other bs things that go on, how about jumping on something worth while, your childs safety. This isn't general hospital, where everyone goes thru happy-sad-happy cycles. while you are driving your big suv, picking up your child, while talking on your cell phone, give it some thought

according to my child, there were at least 9 seperate fights thru out the school day. The school security delcared a lock down, as a lock down, today. If you are unfamiliar with awhat a lock down is, in Rikers Island, the correctional staff, lock the facility down, no movements, nothing except emergencies are allowed to travel thru out the facility. This is what occurred today, a lock down. According to my child, these fights were un provoked, and all were a certain group of students randomly starting fights. My child also claims a teacher was struck in an attempt to stop a fight, and may have suffered a broken nose. Is this true, I am only going on what my child stated, and what I heard thru the message phone.

secondly, is this a gang related thing, what are they going to do to insure our childrens safety. I think a call to the Suffolk DA's office is in order. If they are sweeping these instances under the rug, what will happen next
